Reborn to Shine My Ex-Boyfriend Regretted It When I Became the Valedictorian Chapter 05

Senior year was nonstop studying. Quizzes came one after another.

Hunter started showing up late every day, with dark circles under his eyes.

I became the talk of the class.

I finished every test early and scored first every time. Hunter always came in second. Kat’s grades were all

over the place.

After the physics quiz, Kat placed 5th and buried her face in her arms crying.

Her friends comforted her.

“It’s just a quiz. You’ll nail the next one.”

“You’re too smart for this. Don’t cry.”

Kat mumbled, “Maybe I should ask Jules for help. She only missed the extra credit question.”

“Heard she bought the answers!”

“No way?”

“Totally. She finishes way too fast. Something’s fishy.”

I walked over to Kat and said softly, “I missed that question on purpose. Didn’t want to make you feel bad.

You can’t keep up with me anyway.”

Kat’s face twisted. She stared at me with hatred.

I smiled and walked away.

The next monthly exam arrived. Results shocked everyone.

I was first in the grade. Hunter was second, trailing by 12 points. Kat dropped to sixth.

Mr. Levinson walked in with a dark face. “Someone reported cheating. I hope it’s not true.”

Every eye turned to me.

“Tests are fair. Learn to be honest before you learn to study.”

“Mr. Levinson!” Kat called out. “Our honors class doesn’t have cheaters. It’s just rumors from other classes.”

“But I suggest we retake the exams with brandnew questions. Prove ourselves.”

“Good. I’ll tell all the teachers. Retakes start tomorrow.”

Two days later, Mr. Levinson beamed as he walked in.

“First place: Jules Schafer, 1580! Incredible.”

The class erupted in whispers.

“Quiet! Second: Hunter Bennett, 1561. Third: Rue Demie, 1550. Fourth: Kat Perez, 1530… This was a tough

exam. Jules, we’re all impressed. Keep it up.”

Chatter exploded again.

“Jules was faking being bad all along!”

“Only a pro can miss every answer on purpose.”

“No way she jumped that far for real.”

I glanced at Hunter and Kat.

Hunter slept at his desk. Kat clenched her fists, tears streaming down.
