Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 04

Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 04

Simone’s face snaps to the side from the slap, and she stands there completely stunned.

Lucien, meanwhile, remains beside me without so much as moving a muscle.

Dante’s expression is terrifyingly dark.

“Now greet the Don and the Donna.”

Simone covers her face, her cheeks burning red as fury nearly spills from her eyes.

But she clearly knows Lucien isn’t someone she can afford to provoke. In the end, she can only grit her teeth and speak.

“Good morning, Don. Good morning, Donna.”

The moment she finishes, Dante grabs her and drags her away.

I remain where I am, watching their backs as they disappear down the hallway, unable to stop myself from sneering inwardly.

Because I remember the first rule of the Falcone Family.

No one may disrespect the heir of the Family or his wife, nor address them by their names. Anyone who violates this rule will be punished according to Family law.

Lucien is the eldest son of the Falcone Family, its heir, and the future Don.

In my previous life, I memorize nearly every rule of the Falcone Family just to survive.

Back then, after Simone marries Lucien, she constantly uses her position to suppress me. I know I shouldn’t have to bow my head to her, but because I know the rules, I can only endure it.

I always assume Simone knows them too.

Now, it seems she never bothered to truly understand this family. That is why she thinks being reborn means she can still walk all over me like she did before.

By the time we reach the dining hall, Simone has already received her punishment.

Her face is pale, her head lowered, and for the moment, she is much quieter.

But I soon notice Dante casually playing with the cigar in his hand beneath the table.

The glowing tip brushes across the back of Simone’s hand.

Her entire body trembles, but she doesn’t dare make a sound.

[Bitch.]

Dante curses silently.

[If it weren’t for this stupid woman, I wouldn’t have had to lower my head in front of Lucien today.]

His hand presses down a little harder.

Simone’s fingers immediately curl.

In my previous life, not long after I marry Dante, he begins treating me the same way.

At first, it is only insults.

Then comes the control.

And later, he even forbids me from telling anyone about the injuries he leaves on me.

I want to run.

But the Falcone Family’s influence stretches across New York, and Dante always has someone watching me.

During that time, there is hardly a single day when I truly sleep peacefully.

So in this life, no matter how dangerous Lucien may be, I would rather stand beside him.

At least now, I know Dante is the one truly hiding poisonous fangs.

Simone, you choose him yourself this time.

You have no one else to blame.

Just then, Madre Audrey walks into the dining hall.

We all immediately rise to our feet.

Leaning on the black cane that symbolizes the authority of the Falcone Family, she slowly makes her way toward the head of the table.

“Sit.”

She is about to let everyone take their seats when her gaze suddenly lands on Simone.

Simone is still wearing the same low-cut dress from yesterday.

Audrey’s face immediately darkens.

Simone clearly notices the look in her eyes and quickly forces a smile.

“Madre Audrey, it’s all Dante’s fault.”

She lowers her head shyly, putting on an innocent act.

“He said he wants me pregnant as soon as possible. He wants to give the Family an heir.”

The entire dining hall falls silent.

The next second, Audrey’s cane comes down hard across Simone’s back.

Smack!

“Have you no shame?”

Simone’s face instantly turns pale from the pain.

Audrey looks at her coldly.

“What happens between you and your husband is private.”

“Falcone women don’t parade their private lives around the dinner table, and they certainly don’t dress like they’re walking into some cheap nightclub.”

“Where do you think you are?”

“This is the Falcone Family.”

In my previous life, I personally see a maid thrown out of the family estate by Audrey simply because she dresses too revealingly.

After that, I learn to survive by being careful.

Here, following the rules is sometimes more important than pleasing anyone.

And that is exactly how I barely manage to survive in this family.

Simone always thinks I have a better life in my previous life simply because I marry a better man.

But she never stops to ask herself why a woman who wants a good life has to place her entire fate in a man’s hands.

“I’m sorry, Madre Audrey… I didn’t know.”

Cold sweat forms on Simone’s forehead from the pain.

Dante immediately steps forward as well.

“Madre, don’t blame her. It’s my fault. I should have reminded her sooner.”

He sounds like a considerate husband, but the next second, I hear his thoughts.

[Serves her right. Watching her get hit feels damn good.]

I can’t help clicking my tongue inwardly.

What a psychopath.

Audrey ultimately decides not to pursue the matter any further.

Simone has only just married into the Falcone Family, and Audrey clearly doesn’t want to make the situation too ugly on her first day.

“Sit down.”

Her voice is cold as she takes her seat at the head of the table.

Breakfast finally begins.

Lucien barely says a word from beginning to end.

But while we are eating, he casually places a piece of steak onto my plate.

I can immediately feel Simone’s gaze snap toward me.

If looks could kill, she would probably have torn me to pieces already.

I deliberately smile even more brightly.

“Thank you, honey.”

Lucien glances at me but doesn’t correct me.

Madre Audrey is clearly pleased by the sight.

She sets down her coffee cup and looks at me.

“Annette, after breakfast, you’re going to the office with Lucien.”

I immediately look up.

“As the future Donna, you can’t spend your life doing nothing but attending parties, wearing jewelry, and standing beside your husband.”

Audrey’s tone leaves no room for argument.

“You need to understand the Falcone Family’s businesses, accounts, connections, and the rules we live by in New York.”

Of course, I know she would say this.

In my previous life, she gives Simone the exact same opportunity.

But Simone only smiles and answers:

“I don’t need to learn any of that. Lucien can take care of me for the rest of my life.”

She pushes away a path that could have given her real power with her own hands.

That is why, when she is eventually thrown out of the Falcone Family, she leaves with nothing but a few pieces of clothing.

But this time, I won’t make the same mistake.

I set down my cutlery, look up at Audrey, and smile.

“Of course, Madre.”

“I’d be more than willing to learn.”
