Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 03

Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 03

“What do you mean?”

“After all, this is just a business marriage.” I look at him, doing my best to keep my voice calm. “A lot of couples in arrangements like ours live separate lives in private. As long as we can play the part of a loving couple in front of everyone else, that’s enough. I married you because I want to live a comfortable life without having to worry about money. As for love, I’m not asking for it.”

Lucien is silent for a moment before the corner of his lips suddenly lifts.

“You’re smarter than I thought.”

“Good,” he says, leaning against the doorframe, his tone as casual as if we are discussing an ordinary business deal. “I don’t want a complicated marriage either. Your terms work for me.”

I quietly let out a breath of relief.

I am just an ordinary woman. I neither have the ability nor the confidence to control a man like Lucien Falcone.

In the Falcone Family, how much status I can have depends largely on how much Lucien is willing to give me and what Madre Audrey thinks of me.

I have no intention of repeating Simone’s mistakes from her previous life, being isolated by the entire family and ending up living in humiliation.

Besides, the rumors about Lucien in my previous life are never good.

Simone says he is cold and violent. She even claims that he has hit her before.

Whether it is true or not, I don’t know.

And I have no desire to find out for myself.

So keeping my distance from Lucien and living with him peacefully is the smartest choice I can make.

That night, he really does take up the entire bed without the slightest bit of hesitation, leaving the couch to me.

Not exactly a gentleman.

But whatever.

At least he doesn’t throw me out of the room.

I should be grateful for that much.

The next morning, Lucien is the one who wakes me up.

It is barely dawn, but he is already working out on the other side of the room, wearing headphones while doing strength training.

Still half-asleep, I open my eyes just in time to see the muscles in his arms tighten.

I have to admit, this man’s body is ridiculously good.

Broad shoulders, a narrow waist, sharply defined abs, and arms strong enough to lift someone with ease.

Definitely better than Dante’s.

“Have you seen enough?”

Lucien suddenly speaks.

I freeze.

He pulls one earbud out and casually slips on a black T-shirt.

“Don’t get any ideas. I’m not interested.”

I immediately look away.

As if I care.

“Get dressed,” he continues. “You’re having breakfast with me.”

I instantly understand what he means.

We only got married yesterday. If we go our separate ways first thing the next morning, the people in the Falcone Family will probably start wondering what is wrong between us.

Since we have agreed to play husband and wife in front of everyone else, then naturally, we have to keep up the act at breakfast too.

Once I am ready, I follow Lucien out of the penthouse.

The moment we step into the hallway, Simone and Dante come toward us, their fingers intertwined.

Simone is wearing an overly daring, low-cut dress, with obvious marks on her neck and collarbone, as if she is terrified someone might not know just how “eventful” her night has been.

She even deliberately moves closer to me, looking so smug that it is impossible to ignore.

[She’s covered up so much. There have to be bruises underneath.]

Simone’s thoughts enter my ears.

[Lucien must have hit her. That’s why she’s wearing long sleeves to hide the marks.]

The next second, she smiles.

“Hey, sis. How was your wedding night?”

I glance down at what I am wearing, a sharply tailored Dior suit with clean, understated makeup. Polished, appropriate, and perfectly formal.

Simone has clearly forgotten that Madre Audrey hates seeing the women of the Falcone Family dressed too provocatively. She dislikes heavy makeup around family members even more.

But I have no obligation to remind her.

I simply smile.

“Simone, according to the Falcone Family rules, you should call me your sister-in-law now, not Annette.”

Her face immediately darkens.

“Lucien has never asked me to call you that. Who are you to demand it?”

Then she turns directly toward Lucien.

“Lucien, are you going to say something or not?”

The hallway suddenly falls silent.

I can clearly feel the man beside me growing colder by the second.

Dante obviously notices it too.

[Damn it. This stupid woman. Tonight, I’m going to teach her when to keep her mouth shut.]

He immediately tugs at Simone’s hand, signaling for her to stop.

But Simone clearly still has no idea what she has just stepped into.

“Dante.”

Lucien finally speaks.

His voice is quiet, but the entire hallway instantly falls silent.

“What is the first rule of the Falcone Family?”

Dante’s expression changes slightly, and he immediately lowers his head.

“Respect the Family. Respect the hierarchy.”

Respect the family, and respect its hierarchy and order.

Lucien says nothing else.

He simply looks at him coldly.

Dante immediately understands.

“Sorry, brother.”

Then he turns toward Simone, his expression completely darkening.

“I’ll teach her the rules.”

The next second, a sharp slap echoes through the hallway.
