Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 16

I did not have time to wait for Gideon to arrive.

On Finn’s birthday, something was very wrong with him.

I did not know whether it was because of the protection charm Gideon had sent me.

I had worn it around my neck for three days, and Finn had become unusually restless.

He probably had not noticed that his pupils had already taken on an animal look.

As long as I was out of his sight, he would follow me.

“Where are you going?”

I said, “To pick up the grocery delivery so I can make your birthday dinner.”

He slowly nodded.

I took the chance to slip past the garden trellis and circle toward the back door.

He sensed it and walked straight over, then carried me back over his shoulder.

“You shouldn’t run off like that. Be good.”

The moment we entered the house, he lost patience and pinned me to the floor.

His fangs were thicker than usual, and when they sank into my vein, it hurt.

After a long while, he suddenly collapsed on top of me and fell asleep.

I dragged him onto the couch.

When he woke, he did not remember what he had just done. He reached out, pulled me over, and set me on his lap.

Finn nuzzled against me.

“Where’s my birthday present?”

Because he was so close, he smelled the blood that still had not clotted at the wound on my neck.

His eyes grew hazy, and he opened his mouth.

He probably did not even know what he was doing.

I picked up the wineglass on the coffee table.

“Drink a little first. Your present will be here soon.”

He accepted happily.

This was part of our birthday routine every year. We would start drinking, and before long, we would end up tangled together.

This year was different. I had put Gideon’s powder into the wine.

I used only one-tenth of the dose. It should make him sleep for a few hours.

The System said my existence was blocking the progress of the Male and Female Leads’ relationship, and that it could send me to another world for a while before bringing me back.

I still had no plan, so I could only make a deal with it and hide elsewhere for now.

Finn tilted his head back and drank it all in one swallow. Then he rested his chin on my shoulder and sighed again and again.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

The weight on my shoulder suddenly eased. Finn straightened, a smile touching his mouth.

“Shouldn’t you be the one telling me what’s wrong, baby? I think there’s something off with me.”
