Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 13

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 13

I did not sleep all night.

I could even feel Finn’s fangs sliding out and piercing through my fragile skin.

Then came the nonsense he always murmured after he was sated.

“Baby, every inch of you smells and tastes so sweet.”

“I want to bite you.”

“I want to eat you up so, so badly.”

The second I heard that, I snapped awake and stared at the ceiling with every hair on my body standing on end.

Every time he acted like that, it really felt as if he wanted to tear me apart and swallow me whole.

I stayed half-awake until dawn, then went to work the next day with two dark circles under my eyes.

Finn must have sensed some kind of threat, because he wanted to follow me to work.

“Your university invited me to give a guest lecture. I haven’t set a date yet, but it can be today.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “It doesn’t matter what time you go. The students still need time to prepare. No.”

He clenched his jaw and sat back down on the couch.

I did not expect Finn to follow me anyway.

I was in the middle of teaching, getting into the most animated part of the lecture, when I looked up and saw him sitting in the corner of the fourth row, looking ridiculously sneaky. Apparently, he thought I would not recognize him just because he had put on a hoodie.

I was co-teaching that class with Julian Crane.

Even though I had told him I was not divorced, he seemed a little too confident. He had decided my marriage was falling apart and that he had a chance, so throughout the class, he kept flirting with me in little ways that were supposed to seem casual.

The students knew I wore a wedding ring, but I had never made Finn public. I was afraid he would affect how people judged my professional ability.

So the students all assumed there was something going on between Professor Crane and me.

Their waves of excited whispering gave me a headache.

Finn’s face went dark. He stared at me with a look that said he had known something was wrong all along.

After class, I went back with him.

He got into the back seat and ignored me.

“Finn?”

He seemed to have fallen asleep and did not move.

I had no choice but to take his phone and search for the pickup point for the package Gideon had sent me.

The moment I opened his browser, I saw the search history.

[What does it feel like when the actual spouse becomes the side piece?]

[Is being the side piece morally acceptable in human society?]

[If I’m not human and have no moral standards, can I be the side piece without guilt?]

[Can I be the side piece if I’m not loved?]

[What do I do if my wife hasn’t kissed me first in a year?]

[What should I do if I want to die because I’m not loved?]

[Where is the loneliest place in the world?]

[…]

Silently and very gently, I put the phone back as if nothing had happened.

As soon as we got home, Finn pretended to be cold and went straight into the study, acting as if he were busy with work.

Whenever he felt wronged, he pretended to be busy with work.

Sometimes, I really could not connect this expert at looking pitiful with a predator.

But the moment I thought of his scales, his tree-trunk-thick tail, and his sharp fangs, whatever warmth I felt died instantly.
