Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 07

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 07

At the beginning of the year, Julian and I had moved offices because of a departmental reshuffle, and our desks ended up very close to each other.

I had always treated him as a senior colleague.

He was gentlemanly and considerate toward women.

Once, he happened to be going my way and drove me home.

When Finn hugged me, he smelled a man’s cologne on me.

I told him the truth.

After that, Julian took two weeks off.

When he came back to work, I asked what had happened.

He said he had been bitten by a black snake and spent a week in the ICU.

At the time, I never suspected Finn. In front of me, he had always acted so well-behaved.

That lasted until I caught him showing his true form with that black tail.

On top of that, Julian said he lived on the fifty-first floor.

In the dead of winter, a black snake had somehow climbed all the way up to the fifty-first floor for no reason and left a perfect X-shaped bite mark on Julian’s arm.

It had to be Finn.

He was the best at pretending to be innocent.

After hearing me tell Julian that we were not divorced, Finn’s expression softened. He leaned in, held me, and sniffed me for a long time.

Now I understood. He had been checking whether I had anyone else’s scent on me.

He sniffed me all over like a dog, then finally rested his chin in the crook of my neck and smiled proudly. “Only my scent.”

My whole body went rigid. I thought to myself that his animal instincts had not changed at all. He really did love marking his prey.

I pushed him away and asked as if it were casual, “Weren’t you in England? How did you get back so fast?”

His face froze for a second before he made something up.

“There was an emergency meeting back here, so I came home early.”

“Really? Your IP was still showing London this morning.”

He panicked a little, then tried to act calm.

His eyes drifted away, and he did not dare meet my gaze.

“Maybe the location hadn’t updated yet?”

He leaned closer. “I didn’t lie to you.”

His expression was so innocent it was almost ridiculous.

This supernatural being knew plenty about human social customs, but he had never learned how to lie.

When he looked at me with that flustered, helpless little expression, he might as well have had “I’m lying” written across his face.

I took my phone from his hand and hurried out of the bedroom.

Being alone in the same room with him was the most dangerous thing of all.

He was not eating me now only because he wanted to keep me alive as a blood bag.

Just as I reached the door, I received a message from Georgia.

Georgia: [Eating too many egg yolks can apparently throw a pregnancy test off, too. Come in and let me run labs. If you two are really getting divorced, you need to think carefully about what you want to do about this pregnancy.]

I replied: [Okay.]

Finn followed close behind me step for step.

I turned around and said coldly, “Don’t come near me unless it’s bedtime.”

After all, bedtime was when he drank my blood anyway.

Who knew when he might get carried away and swallow me whole?

He made the face of a child who had done something wrong, but a faint trace of confusion soon surfaced.

“I only do that with you because I like you—”

“Stop.”

He obediently shut up.

Human words could not be trusted, much less the words of a supernatural being who saw me as food.

They had instincts, after all.
