“Who am I? I’m the one who will protect Corinne Shaw forever.”

“I’m the one who loves her more than anyone.”

“I’m the one who kills anyone who hurts her!”

The young boy smiled coldly and shoved the knife deeper.

His flesh was torn apart. Writhing in agony, Silas dropped to his knees, consumed by despair.

Blood poured through his fingers, soaking the carpet beneath him.

Guests panicked and fled, thinking it was a murder.

No one dared ask who the boy was, nor did anyone care if Silas lived.

Silas lay on the floor, propping himself up weakly.

He looked weakly at the petrified Marnie and spoke with great difficulty.

“Marnie… help… stop the bleeding.”

Marnie was about to nod when she turned and met the boy’s icy stare.

His eyes were sharp, cold, and filled with reckless ferocity.

He would really kill.

He’d stabbed Silas for Corinne. He would kill her too.

Marnie trembled with fear. Without a glance back at Silas, she turned and fled.

She tripped over her gown in her rush.

She curled up crying, terrified out of her wits.

“Don’t hurt me! I have a baby!”

“Kill Silas! He’s the one who hurt Corinne! It’s not my fault!”

Seeing the boy paid her no heed, she scrambled to her feet in embarrassment. She dared not think further and ran for her life.

A faded, soft shirt fell over my shaking back.

The boy’s lips were pale, but he smiled and ruffled my hair.

“Corinne, I finally found you.”

I snapped out of shock.

Only when I touched his warm cheek did I believe it wasn’t a dream.

Across overlapping parallel worlds, he took my hand again.

“Let’s go home.”
