On Our Wedding Day, He Married Someone Else Chapter 06

The boy’s face paled quickly after a few steps.

He clutched his chest, sweating in pain.

I spun around and locked eyes with the dying Silas.

I broke free from the boy and rushed to him without a second thought.

I knelt beside him, sprinkling antibiotic on his wound, tearing my lining to wrap it tight.

Layer after layer. The bleeding finally stopped.

I exhaled in relief.

Silas stared hard at me, coughing violently. Regretful tears welled up in his eyes.

“When I was dying, my friends left. The woman who said she loved me ran. Only you stayed.”

“Corinne, I’m so sorry. You still love me, right? I’ll never hurt you again. I’ll cherish you forever.”

The boy stared at me in confusion, pointing furiously and shouted hoarsely at Silas.

“Corinne, have you lost your mind?”

“Don’t you remember how he hurt you? He chose that homewrecker’s daughter. He gave her everything that was yours.”

“He even showed your old pain to everyone just to shame you. You shouldn’t save him. Let him die!”

“Corinne, please… stop loving him.”

I wrapped my arms around the boy from behind and nuzzled his back affectionately.

I still smelled that familiar, distant soap scent.

“Silas, I don’t want you to die.”

They were the same person.

If 28-year-old Silas hurt, 18-year-old Silas hurt too.

If 28-year-old Silas died, 18-year-old Silas would disappear forever.

I didn’t care if the older Silas lived or died.

I might even sneer and call him deserved.

But I couldn’t let the young boy vanish.

I couldn’t lose the only person who ever loved me truly.

The boy held me tight in return, tears streaming down his face.

“Corinne, you’re so stupid. Don’t you understand?”

“Past or future, it’s all me. I’m the one who hurt you.”

“You should let him die. Let me die. That’s the only way to end your pain.”

The boy pulled the knife again, shaking.

He brushed off my attempts to stop him, stepped slowly toward Silas, and bent down with a cold sneer.

He pressed the blade to Silas’s face.

“Silas Hale, do you know who I am now?”

Silas smiled bitterly and closed his eyes.

He’d been shocked the second he saw the boy.

How could someone look so much like him?

Only his young, sharp eyes set them apart.

Pure and untainted.

Not like him, covered in greed and selfishness.

At first, he didn’t understand why the boy wanted him dead.

Then he caught fragments of their talk.

It was absurd, horrifying and bizarre, yet it was all real.

Silas opened his eyes.

“You’re me.”

“I almost forgot. I used to be that wild. I’d kill for you, Corinne.”

“Do it then, kid.”

As the blade was about to pierce Qin Yuchuan’s throat, police sirens and an ambulance wailed at the same time.

It stopped the boy cold.

I cried and begged him to leave.

The boy hurried over to me, smiling as he ran.

“Corinne, will you come with me?”

I nodded as hard as I could.

Blinding light blurred my vision, and everything spun wildly.

If not for his hand gripping mine, I wouldn’t know if it was real or a dream.

Silas knelt there, watching me slowly fade, screaming in agony and despair.

“Corinne, don’t go!”

“Please don’t leave me!”
