“I’ll take Lucas to the lounge first.”

Claire had recognized Lucas as “Sunshine” and was nervously telling Sophia.

They were both worried that he might have already uncovered the entire truth.

Lucas asked in a joking tone, “Do I look that scary? Your roommate seemed terrified of me.”

I pretended not to understand what he meant.

“Not at all. She was probably worried about something else.”

“Claire may not talk much, but she’s earned a scholarship every year since freshman year.”

“She gets excellent grades, and her love life is going well too. I heard she and her online boyfriend are very close.”

Lucas raised an eyebrow but didn’t ask any more questions.

Once we reached the lounge, he quickly turned the conversation back to me.

When the event ended and I went downstairs, I found Sophia and Claire still waiting outside.
