My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 06

My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 06

Not long after the family dinner, I found out I was expecting. Rabbit Clan

we were built for this.

Between my biology and Julian’s… enthusiasm, it was inevitable. I just hadn’t expected it to happen

this fast.

The healer examined me and went pale. “Congratulations, my lady. This litter… I count seven. Possibly eight.”

Seven or eight?! I nearly passed out on the spot.

Rabbits were fertile. Serpents were fertile. But seven or eight in one go? At this rate I wasn’t a mother – I was a one-woman baby-making machine.

Julian nearly lost his mind with joy. He scooped me up and spun me around the courtyard until I was dizzy, laughing like a complete idiot.

“I’m going to be a father!” He was shouting it at the sky. “Darling, you’re incredible!

When the news reached Obsidian Crest, Valerie wrecked every decoration in her room. She stormed down to Peach Blossom Vale, jabbed a finger at my belly, and unleashed on me.

“What are you, Flora, a broodmare?” Valerie spat. “Have that many at once and they’ll all come out

freaks.’

I rubbed my belly, stretched out on the couch in a patch of sunlight, and smiled. “Jealous, Valerie?”

“You’ve been married just as long and you’ve got nothing to show for it. Starting to wonder if Gideon’s the problem.”

Valerie’s face went white with fury. “You don’t know anything! Gideon has taken a vow of celibacy – he can’t break his discipline!”

“Once he ascends, we’ll have a divine heir. It’ll happen when the time is right!”

The pity I felt was genuine.

Celibacy had nothing to do with it. Gideon didn’t have the parts for it. I hadn’t learned the truth until the end of my first life – Gideon had castrated himself years ago to master forbidden dark magic.

Every magic conduit he’d kept on Obsidian Crest before Valerie had been drained to death. The only reason Valerie was still breathing was her Rabbit Clan vitality – we could take more punishment

before we broke.

“Take care of yourself, Valerie,” I said. “It’d be a shame if you didn’t make it that far.”

Valerie scoffed.

“Don’t get too comfortable,” she sneered. “How’s your penniless husband going to feed eight extra mouths? Your whole family will end up begging in the streets.”

Reality, as usual, had other plans.

The day Julian found out about the pregnancy, he disappeared for a couple of hours and came back hauling one chest after another of gold, silver, jewels, and rare elixirs.

“I’ve been saving this up for a while,” Julian said, a little sheepish. “I was going to surprise you later, but – well, plans changed.”

“Now that we’ve got little ones coming, I’m not letting you or the babies go without anything.”

Julian wasn’t the broke pushover everyone assumed. His magical power was modest, sure — but the man had an uncanny nose for treasure.

He knew every hidden cache, every buried vein of wealth in the Serpent Clan’s territory.

The fortune he’d quietly built up over the years dwarfed anything Gideon had never bothered to look.

– and Gideon had

Valerie saw those chests, and her eyes burned. She went back to Obsidian Crest and tried a different

strategy.

She undressed completely and slipped under Gideon’s covers, “My lord, Flora’s already expecting,” she whispered. “Don’t you think we should…”

Gideon kicked her off the bed.

“Get out!” His voice shook the walls. “Interrupt my meditation again, and I’ll end you myself.”

Valerie crumpled on the cold floor, sobbing until her chest ached. She’d been reborn. She’d picked the strongest man. How was this life worse than the last one?

The weeks rolled by and my belly swelled as if someone were inflating it from the inside. Julian, impossibly, became even more attached.

He figured out how to channel his healing magic into massaging my swollen legs, and every day he

came up with some new dish meant to keep me and the babies thriving.

Valerie, meanwhile, was falling apart. Her hair came out by the fistful. Her skin turned dry and rough as bark. Beneath her robes, there was nothing left – just bone wrapped in skin as thin as

paper.

She told herself it was the shedding of her mortal shell – that she was transforming, not dying and gritted her teeth through it.

Then her fingernails turned black. Then her teeth started to loosen. That was when the panic finally

set in.
