My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 05

My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 05

After the wedding, Valerie’s life and mine couldn’t have looked more different.

Valerie was living like an ascetic on Obsidian Crest. Gideon needed enormous amounts of lunar magic for his ascension.

He never laid a hand on Valerie – not because he was holding back, but because she wasn’t a wife

to him. She was his battery.

Every day, he made her sit in an ice pool for hours – told her it was purifying her core, strengthening her body.

The truth was simpler. He was draining the lunar magic out of her like sap from a tapped tree./

Every day, Valerie climbed out of that pool with purple lips and a frozen smile, telling anyone who asked that Gideon was training her.

She ate whatever Gideon left behind – the leftover scraps of his elixirs, raw enchanted fruit, nothing warm, nothing cooked.

Within barely a month, the weight melted off her. The curves she’d been so proud of wasted away to sharp angles, and something behind her eyes went dim.

Meanwhile, Julian was pampering me like a prized possession at Peach Blossom Vale. Julian’s magical power might have been modest, but the man had been born to spoil someone rotten.

He filled the courtyard with every kind of magic-infused vegetable and went into the hills to hunt wild game for stew. “Darling, I caught this game in the hills this morning – it’ll make the best

stew.”

“This crushed pearl serum came all the way from the southern sea – perfect for your skin.”

“I made this armor for you out of my molted scales. It’s not pretty, but it’ll keep you safe.” Everything he found, he brought home to me. He cooked something different for me every day, and every night, without fail, he dragged me into his favorite kind of “workout”.

Between the food, the attention, and the late-night “exercises”, my magic reserves shot up than I’d ever imagined. Even my rabbit ears turned glossier – sleek, soft as velvet.

When three months had passed, it was time for the traditional family visit. Julian and I headed back to the Rabbit Clan, loaded with gifts.

Valerie and Gideon came too. One look at Valerie, and my stomach dropped. She looked destroyed

Her robe hung loose on a frame that had gone skeletal. Her skin was pale as parchment, her eyes

hollow and sunk deep into her skull.

“Valerie – sweetheart, what happened to you?” Mother’s voice shook. “You’re skin and bones.”

Valerie forced a smile that didn’t quite hold. “It’s nothing, Mother. This is just… part of the

process.”

“Gideon says I need to shed my mortal shell and be remade from the inside out if I want to be

worthy of the Divine Queen’s throne.”

“I know I look thin, but my aura has never been stronger. Honestly, I’m doing great.”

I nearly rolled my eyes into another realm. A strong aura? She looked like something had been draining her dry from the inside – which, of course, was exactly what was happening.

Gideon sat apart from the group, eyes closed, not acknowledging a single person in the room.

I, on the other hand, was glowing. Rosy cheeks, curves in all the right places – every inch of me

screamed cherished and well-fed.

Julian sat beside me peeling grapes, slipping them between my lips one at a time. “Sweet?” he

asked. I hummed and nodded.

Valerie watched us, and the jealousy on her face was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

At dinner, Valerie couldn’t stop staring at the feast – roasted meats, whole fish, dishes stacked high. Her throat bobbed. Three months of raw fruit and cold scraps on Obsidian Crest had left her starving for anything with warmth and taste.

“You’re purifying. No meat,” Gideon said, not even looking up.

Valerie’s fork hovered over a roasted fowl, then retreated. She picked at some greens instead, her

jaw tight.

Julian watched the whole thing, then calmly dropped the biggest piece of meat on the table onto my plate. “You should eat more, darling. I think you’ve lost weight.”

I glanced down at my waistline, which had very obviously gone the other way. Lost weight? The man

was shameless.

Valerie snapped. Her fork hit the table with a crack. “I’m done!” she choked out.

She bolted from the table, eyes red and brimming. Our parents turned to Gideon, helpless and

unsure. Gideon didn’t blink. He sat there like the seat across from him had always been empty.
