My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 01

My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 01

Valerie Avery and I were both offered up to the Serpent Clan as brides. Two brothers, two girls.

The elder brother, Gideon Vance, was plain at best

The younger brother, Julian Vance, was gentle by nature and devastatingly handsome — warm eyes, refined features.

Valerie claimed Julian before anyone could blink. I got Gideon — the ugly one.

No one saw what came next. A year into our marriage, Gideon shed his serpent form, ascended as a dragon, and became a divine lord of the heavens.

The day he descended through the clouds to bring me home, Valerie snapped.

She drove a blade through my chest before I even saw her hand move.

“Why you?” she screamed. “That fate was supposed to be mine!”

When I opened my eyes, I was back. The night before the wedding. And Valerie was already telling our parents she wanted the black serpent.

“I’ll take Gideon,” Valerie said. “I know he’s… not much to look at, but I’m the eldest. It’s my duty to shoulder this so Flora doesn’t have to.”

She played the martyr beautifully. But I could see it — the glee barely contained behind her eyes.

She’d been reborn too.

Our parents exchanged a stunned glance. Mother reached over and stroked Valerie’s hair, her face tight with worry.

“Sweetheart, are you sure about this?” Mother asked. “They say Gideon is… difficult. And his appearance — honestly, he’s frightening.”

“Your mother’s right,” Father added. “Julian may be the younger brother, but he’s good-natured and easy on the eyes. Weren’t you always the one with a thing for handsome men?”

Valerie didn’t waver. She lifted her chin. “I’ve made my decision. My mind is made up.”

Then she turned to me, a smile sliding across her face — all smugness, no warmth. “You’re welcome, little sister. I saved the pretty one for you. The least you could do is say thank you.”

I ducked my head, hiding a smile of my own. “How generous of you, Valerie. Truly.”

In my first life, I’d been Gideon’s wife. Everyone looking in envied me — the bride of a divine lord, wrapped in glory. What they didn’t know was that Gideon was an ascetic obsessed with purging all earthly desires.

All he cared about was his dragon ascension. He’d cut away every last shred of desire years before I came along, and he looked at women the way most people looked at dirt on their shoe.

In an entire year of marriage, he never once touched me.

We shared a bed — technically. He’d put up a magical barrier down the middle, and I slept on my side. If I rolled so much as an inch past the line, his protective aura hit hard enough to knock the breath right out of my lungs.

The only reason he kept me at all was my lunar affinity — as a rabbit shifter, born under the moon. My presence alone stabilized his volatile magic. That was my entire value to him.

And that thing between his legs? Purely decorative. I spent that entire year as a widow in all but name, tiptoeing through every waking hour, and I was done. Completely done.

But Julian, the white-serpent brother… I thought back to what Valerie used to say in our first life.

“Julian is an absolute animal,” Valerie had griped. “He’s insatiable — morning, noon, night, he won’t leave me alone. I’m constantly sore and he still wants more. The only thing he’s good for is that stupid pretty face.”

Insatiable? A grin tugged at my lips. That sounded absolutely perfect.

The more I turned it over in my head, the harder it was to keep a straight face.

Beside me, Valerie was practically glowing with triumph. She leaned in, her whisper meant for no one but me.

“This time around, Flora, I’m the one who’s going to rise to the heavens,” she breathed. “You can rot down here with that useless white serpent.”

I looked up and gave her my sweetest smile. “Then I hope you get everything you deserve, Valerie.”
