My Husband Died in a Crash, Only to Resurrect at My Funeral to Steal My Legacy Chapter 04

Microphones and cameras were shoved directly into my face from every direction.

Flashbulbs exploded nonstop.

Then I heard Eleanor’s shrill voice cut through the chaos.

“It’s her!”

She pointed at me with trembling fury.

“She’s the woman who killed my son!”

Her voice rose into a hysterical scream.

“My son is dead, and she’s busy sending her parents on an overseas vacation!”

“How can there be such a shameless daughter-in-law in this world?”

“Someone give us justice!”

So they had already gone looking for my parents.

Too bad they hadn’t found them.

I nearly smiled.

The reporters immediately began shouting questions.

“Ms. Winslow, your mother-in-law has made some serious accusations. How do you respond?”

“You’ve publicly stated many times that you loved your husband. If that’s true, why would you drive him to his death?”

“Can you explain what happened?”

“What’s there to explain?” Eleanor snapped.

She shoved a reporter aside and jabbed a finger at me.

“This woman is evil!”

“She’s a murderer!”

“She killed my son!”

“She should pay for it with her life!”

Her voice became even more vicious.

“She should support me and Caleb’s father for the rest of our lives!”

“She should support Kaylee’s parents too!”

“And every penny she owns should be transferred to me!”

In my previous life, I had been terrified.

Faced with Eleanor’s demands, I hadn’t dared say a single word.

I had simply nodded and accepted everything.

But not this time.

I shoved her hand away and faced the sea of cameras.

Then I spoke clearly.

“Caleb Vance isn’t dead.”

The crowd erupted instantly.

“What?!”

“He’s alive?”

“Ms. Winslow, what are you talking about?”

“That’s a lie!” Eleanor lunged at me and grabbed my collar.

She looked like a rabid animal.

“A semi-truck hit Caleb and sent him flying!”

“There was blood everywhere!”

“And you’re standing here saying he’s alive?”

“What kind of monster are you?”

Before she could continue, another commotion erupted behind the crowd.

Kaylee’s parents pushed their way forward.

Their eyes were red from crying.

They pointed at me with trembling fingers.

“You heartless bitch!”

“Our daughter was crushed because of you!”

“She was mangled beyond recognition!”

“And you’re standing here saying she isn’t dead?”

“You’re a monster!”

“My daughter died because of you!”

“What are two old people like us supposed to do now?”

As both families wailed dramatically, even the reporters began looking at me with open hostility.

They pushed closer.

Their questions were no longer polite.

Now they sounded like accusations.

“Ms. Winslow, you owe the public an explanation!”

“You claim Caleb Vance and Kaylee Miller are alive.”

“Do you have proof?”

“Of course I do.”

My voice remained calm despite the chaos surrounding me.

The second I said it, Eleanor’s head snapped toward me.

For the first time, panic flashed across her face.

Confusion.

Fear.

Suspicion.

She tried to force her way forward, but the reporters had already surrounded me completely.

“Proof?”

“Where is it?”

“Show us!”

“Show us the evidence!”

Countless cameras focused on me.

Every lens was pointed directly at my face.

I slowly raised an eyebrow.

Then I smiled.

And pulled out my phone.
