The guests filled the ballroom with malicious guesses.

Onstage, Vivian stared into the distance, the new ring still on her finger.

She couldn’t stop seeing my back as I walked away. Something about it had felt final.

But that was impossible. I had cared for her without complaint for three years. I would never truly leave her

She wanted to believe that. For the first time, she couldn’t quite manage it.

Mason took her hand and bent close to her ear.

“Don’t let Julian fool you, Vivian.

“He rented that jet to put on a show and ruin our wedding. That’s all this is.”

Vivian seized on his explanation at once.

“Julian has always been so selfish.”

They turned to continue the ceremony.

Suddenly, someone in the audience pointed behind them and shouted.

“Look! What’s that?”

Vivian froze before slowly facing the massive screen.

A video had begun to play.

On it, her new husband was making out with his assistant, Chloe Reed, in the back of an executive car.

Between kisses, Chloe asked,

“Mason, are you really going to marry that old bore? What do you even see in her?”

Panic flashed across Mason’s face.

He roared at the hotel staff.

“Why are you standing there? Shut that damn thing off!”

But I had paid the technical crew well. Not one person moved.

Vivian also locked both hands around Mason’s arm and hissed through clenched teeth,

“I want to hear the rest. Don’t touch it.”

Sweat broke out across his entire body.

The recording continued.

Mason answered Chloe with a laugh.

“Of course she isn’t as much fun as you. I just enjoy taking things from Julian.

“He developed a piece of technology and used it to launch his company. I wanted it, so I told Vivian he sto it from me.

“The truth is, Julian once borrowed my computer. I memorized his code afterward. I never thought Vivian would actually believe my story.

“She faked a coma and chained Julian to her bedside for three years. Meanwhile, I took over the market he had fought to build.”

The blood seemed to freeze inside Vivian.

Mason had lied from the beginning. I had never stolen his technology.

Yet she had believed every word. For his sake, she had staged an accident, pretended to be comatose, and forced me to wait on her for three years.

And that wasn’t even the worst of it.

Onscreen, Mason kept touching Chloe as he boasted.

I didn’t just want Julian’s technology and his customers. I wanted the woman he loved too.

“I was the only person who knew Vivian was awake, so I kept finding excuses to be alone with her.

I pressured her, played the victim, and wore her down. Eventually, she gave in.

“The day Julian left to pick up her birthday cake, Vivian and I slept together for the first time. Honestly, it wasn’t anything special.

“After the first time, the rest came easily. We did it often enough that she got pregnant.

“And with a baby on the way, marrying her looked perfectly natural.”

Vivian swayed and almost collapsed.

Mason grabbed her, fumbling for an explanation.

“Vivian, the video is fake. You can’t believe this!”

“Julian made it. He wants to turn us against each other and destroy the wedding!”

Vivian turned and stared at him.

Then her palm cracked across his face.

“I’m not blind, Mason.”
