I Saw The Comments Predicting My Divorce And Fired The Cause First Chapter 11

Months later.

Frosthaven.

Sub-zero temps. The wind cut across my face like a blade.

I was bundled in a parka, wearing two pairs of gloves, camera in hand, standing alone in the snow.

I’d come alone.

Not waiting for anyone. Not carrying anyone else’s promise. I just wanted to see it for myself.

Green ribbons of light unfurled across the sky, from horizon to horizon, like the universe had written something across the dark for the whole world to read.

They shifted and rippled, sheer as silk one second, cascading like water the next, then swirling as though someone had dragged a brushstroke of green light across the dark.

I pressed the shutter.

One frame. Two. Three.

Then I lowered the camera, tilted my head back, and just looked.

The aurora was beautiful.

And I didn’t need anyone beside me to make it mean something.

My phone buzzed. Julian.

[Did you get the shot?]

I texted back. [Got it. It’s incredible.]

He replied. [Next time, take me with you. I’ll even pose for a few shots.]

I stood there in the freezing wind, reading those words, and smiled.

I didn’t reply.

But I posted a photo online.

Not the aurora.

It was a photo a stranger had taken for me. I was standing in the snow, the whole sky burning green behind me, the fur trim on my hood blown wild by the wind, and I was grinning like I meant it.

The caption was two words.

[New life.]

Almost immediately, Piper liked it. [STUNNING. I almost didn’t recognize you!!]

A moment later, Mrs. Thorne. [You look gorgeous, sweetheart. Next time, bring Julian and come have dinner at our place!]

Shortly after, Julian liked it. He didn’t leave a comment.

But in my DMs:

[Can I save this one?]

[Go ahead.]

[When do you land? I’ll pick you up.]

I smiled at my phone. [In a couple of days.]

[Okay.]

A few beats later:

[Harper. I meant what I said. When you’re back, give me an answer.]

I stood under the aurora and read it three times.

Then I typed one word.

[Okay.]

One last wave of comments drifted by…

[IT’S OVER AND I’M IN SHAMBLES.]

[Watching her glow-up has been the most satisfying thing I’ve ever read.]

[Don’t call her the ex-wife anymore. She’s the FL now.]

[She finally smiled. For real this time.]

[Miles who?? I only know Julian.]

[The aurora means forever. This time, she gets to choose who stands beside her.]

[Thank you for this story. It broke my heart and put it back together.]

[BONUS CHAPTERS WHEN?? I’m not ready to let go!!]

I slipped my phone into my pocket and looked up one last time.

The green light rippled across the sky, slow and endless, as if the whole universe was whispering: You deserve this.

I took a deep breath and turned back toward the road.

Behind me, the aurora kept burning.

Ahead of me, the first edge of dawn was starting to glow.

—The End—
