My Billionaire Husband Lost His Memory, and I Left With His Child Chapter 05

Mr. Whitmore crouched down, wiped the tears from Leo’s face, and lifted him into his arms. After soothing him for a moment, he asked gently, “What’s your name? How old are you?”

Leo was crying so hard he could barely catch his breath. His little hands were balled into fists as he sobbed, “My name is Leo Parker. I’m three.”

Mrs. Whitmore stood to the side. When she heard that, her lips parted slightly, and her voice began to tremble. “Three years ago…”

She stopped, then murmured, “That was the year Adrian had his accident. The same year Olivia left.”

Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore looked at each other.

Then, almost at the same time, they rushed toward me and fumbled to unlock the restraints.

Mrs. Whitmore grabbed my shoulders, her eyes red as she asked again and again, “Whose child is he? Is he Adrian’s? Why does he look so much like him? Say something!”

Before I could answer, unsteady footsteps came from the doorway.

Adrian shoved the half-open door aside and stumbled in. The IV line was still taped to the back of his hand, and several buttons at the collar of his white hospital gown hung open.

He staggered once, then stepped in front of me and spread his arms,

shielding me behind him.

“None of you are allowed to touch her.”

Dr. Lawson hurried in after him, sweating from panic. “Mr. Whitmore, you need to come back with me right now. In your condition, you really shouldn’t be moving around like this.”

Adrian ignored him.

Instead, he turned his head and stared straight at my face.

His voice was hoarse. He lowered his head and rested his forehead against the curve of my shoulder. “Why didn’t you come find me all these years?”

He pulled me hard into his arms and kept repeating, “I’m sorry. I forgot you. I only just remembered.”

My nose stung. I didn’t push him away. I only lifted my hand, placed it on his back, and patted him gently.

Mrs. Whitmore stood nearby in a daze, watching her son hold me as if he had recovered something he had lost forever and would never let go again.

She let out a helpless sigh, frustration creeping into her voice. “You… why does it always have to be her?”

Just then, Leo walked over, tugged at the hem of my shirt, and lifted his little face—one that looked almost exactly like Adrian’s.

He tilted his head, studied Adrian seriously for a moment, then turned

back to me. “Mommy, is he my daddy?”

I lowered my eyes and stroked his hair. “Yes. He is.”

Leo had not even had time to speak when Vanessa suddenly let out a shrill scream, her whole body shaking. “Then what about me? What am I supposed to be?”

“What about me? What about the child we adopted? Uncle Charles, Aunt Chloe, you clearly said back then that we would raise that child together.”

“Now that Olivia is back, you’re just going to throw me away?”

No one answered her.

Her chest rose and fell violently.

Then she turned toward the men in dark uniforms standing there in a daze and screamed, waving her arms at them. “Are you all dead? Grab her already!”

She spun around, grabbed the small knife from the coffee table, and charged toward Leo. “This is all your fault, you little bastard.”

Her face twisted as she lunged at him. “You’re not Adrian’s son. You can’t be. Olivia must have found you somewhere, you little fraud, and somehow made you look like him just to fool everyone.”

Adrian reacted fast. He pulled Leo fully into his arms and shielded him.

The knife sank straight into Adrian’s palm.

Blood ran down his wrist.

Only then did the guards snap back to their senses and restrain Vanessa.

Mr. Whitmore’s expression changed completely, his voice shaking.

“Adrian, get that wound treated first. I’m begging you as your father, all right? We’ve failed you enough already.”

Adrian held Leo tightly. The little boy in his arms was still stunned, too dazed to understand what had happened. Then Adrian looked up at me where I stood frozen in place.

“If Olivia and Leo come with me, I’ll go.”

Vanessa’s face turned deathly pale. “What did she do to make your whole family lose their minds? She’s someone who should have disappeared years ago.”
