My Billionaire Husband Lost His Memory, and I Left With His Child Chapter 02

I pulled out my phone, intending to call them, but no matter how many times I tried, it wouldn’t go through.

Apparently, they truly didn’t want any contact with me.

Still, with all the money they had given me, I could raise a child on my own.

I quickly settled into a new city.

My belly grew bigger day by day, and on the day I went into labor, I called an ambulance alone.

Leo grew up healthy and well cared for, but he looked far too much like Adrian.

His eyes, the bridge of his nose, even the curve of his pursed lips—it was as if he had been sculpted from the same mold.

His personality mirrored Adrian’s too. When he fell, he didn’t cry. He got up on his own, brushed off his knees, and acted far more grown-up than a child his age should.

Before long, it was kindergarten open house.

Every other child had their parents sitting beside them. Only the seat next to me remained empty.

A boy ran over and asked him, “Leo, why didn’t your dad come?”

I opened my mouth, but my mind went blank. I couldn’t think of what to say.

Leo lifted his face and said seriously, “It’s fine that Mom’s here. I can take care of Mom by myself. I don’t need a dad.”

A few parents nearby chuckled. “Wow, this kid is way too mature for his age.”

One parent stared at him a little longer and suddenly frowned. “Wait a second.”

He tilted his head, studied Leo for a moment, then snapped his fingers. “I know! He’s like a miniature version of my boss.”

“But our boss and his fiancée are so devoted to each other. He even adopted a child so his wife wouldn’t have to go through pregnancy.”

I froze, trying to process the words slowly.

The parents exchanged glances, eyes flicking over me.

Then a little boy laughed suddenly and pointed. “Then isn’t he just a bastard?”

“Your mom’s dirty. She’s one of that rich guy’s side pieces. No wonder your dad isn’t around—you’re illegitimate.”

An adult nearby pulled him back, but a knowing smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.

Leo’s little shoulders trembled. He balled his fists and lunged forward. “Don’t you dare talk about my mom!”

Before I could react, he had tackled the boy and climbed on top of him.

The boy’s father rushed over and lifted Leo off him. In the struggle, the other boy grabbed at Leo and left a long red scratch across his cheek.

The man glanced at me. Seeing I was alone with the child, he immediately sized me up as easy prey.

Holding Leo by the arm, he sneered”Since this kid has no father to discipline him, I’ll do it for him.”

Then he raised his hand and spanked Leo.

Leo’s eyes turned red, but he gritted his teeth and refused to let a tear fall.

My ears rang. I lost it. I rushed forward, snatched Leo back into my arms, and turned to leave.

But by midnight, Leo was running a high fever. His little face was burning, and even his breath felt scorching hot.

I carried him all the way to the ER, weaving through the crowded corridors.

After registering, I huddled in a chair with my burning-hot child, waves of helplessness washing over me.

Then a tiny, fragile whisper came from him.

“Daddy… Daddy…”

I held him silently for a moment, tightening my arms around him and pressing my forehead to his. “Your dad doesn’t remember us anymore. He’s gone to be someone else’s father.”

Just then, our number was called over the loudspeaker. I quickly got up with Leo and hurried toward the exam room.

At the door, a woman suddenly pushed past us from the side and cut in front. “My child scraped his hand! Let us go first.”

Our eyes met, and for a moment, we both froze. It was Vanessa.
