“So, regarding the expansion of the pack alliance—”

My body slammed forward onto the conference table.

“Alpha! Get the Pack Healer!”

The Elders’ Council Hall erupted into chaos.

I clutched my chest. It felt like my heart was being ripped out.

“Kael!” Celeste rushed to my side and grabbed my arm.

I bolted straight toward the East Wing Residence.

“Elara!” I threw the door open.

“Elara!” Silence.

The room was empty.

The wardrobe doors stood wide open.

Every piece of her clothing was gone.

The cosmetics on the vanity… gone.

Even the little pot of moon mint she’d treasured had disappeared without a trace.

“Rowan! Rowan!”

I rushed into the next room.

His toys. His clothes. His books. Everything…

Gone.

Even the little wolf carved from a deer antler had disappeared.

“No… this can’t be happening…”

I tore through every room, desperately searching for any sign they were still here.

But every silent corner told me the same cruel truth—

They had left.

“They’re gone already?”

The sharp click of high heels echoed behind me.

I turned.

Celeste leaned casually against the doorway.

“Kael. We’re the perfect match. Now that the obstacle is gone. We can finally start planning our mating ceremony.”

She was smiling.

One week later, my world collapsed.

“Alpha! Emergency!”

Elder Gideon burst into my office, his face drained of all color.

“We’re under attack!”

“What happened?” I shot to my feet.

“The eastern border was ambushed by Hunters! Thirteen pack warriors are critically injured! Five more suffered lighter wounds!”

I grabbed my jacket.

“Is the infirmary ready?”

“That’s the problem!”

Gideon’s face was ashen.

“The healing herbs have become poison! The medicine meant to stop the bleeding is killing them!”

“What?” I stared at him in disbelief.

“How is that possible?”

“Elara created those formulas herself. They were flawless.”

“And the patrol routes!” Another elder rushed inside.

“The patrol formations have completely failed! They’re full of blind spots! The Hunters broke through three outposts without resistance!”

Cold spread through my body.

“Who was responsible?”

The elders exchanged uneasy glances.

Finally, Gideon answered.

“It was…the future Luna, Celeste. She took over personally. She insisted on replacing everything with the Ravenwood Pack’s ‘more advanced’ methods.”

The room spun around me.

After Elara left, Celeste had volunteered to manage pack affairs.

I thought she was genuinely preparing herself to become Luna.
