My Alpha Hid Our Son for 12 Years… Now I’m the Royal Healer He Lost Chapter 07

[Kael’s POV]

Celeste slowly set the necklace down. The smile vanished from her face.

When she looked at me again, there was an icy coldness in her eyes I’d never seen before.

“So what if a few warriors died?” Her voice was eerily calm.

“Kael, that’s the law of the wild. The strong survive. The weak are eliminated.”

“What?” I stared at her in disbelief.

“If they couldn’t survive a few injuries, then their bloodline was inferior to begin with. Wolves like that are better off dead.”

She casually smoothed the wrinkles from her dress.

I stood frozen. It felt as though someone had driven a blade straight through my chest.

Was this really Celeste?

The gentle, compassionate woman I’d believed I knew?

“They’re my people!” My wolf growled as I glared at her.

“They’re not disposable trash!”

“Oh, Kael.” Celeste sighed and walked toward me.

“You’re still too emotional. That’s exactly why you need me. I can help you make the rational decisions.”

Rational?

My mind drifted to Elara.

She would never have said something so heartless.

She had personally treated every injured pack member.

She had fought to save every Omega brought into the infirmary.

She had stayed awake night after night brewing healing potions, even burning through her own life force to keep critically wounded warriors alive.

Would a woman like that really have used underhanded tricks just to become my mate?

A wave of nausea rolled through me.

Not because of Celeste. Because of myself.

“I’m going to the infirmary. I need to see my people.” I turned toward the door.

“Kael, tonight is the Full Moon Banquet—”

Bang!

I slammed the door shut behind me.

I didn’t want to hear another word.

Night fell.

I stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows of Alpha Manor, staring at the gilded invitation in my hand.

Northern Lycan Alliance Full Moon Banquet

The most important political gathering of the year.

Every powerful Alpha in the Alliance would be there.

If I failed to attend, the reputation of the Silvercrest Pack would suffer.

“Kael?”

Celeste descended the staircase wearing a long crimson gown.

“Are you ready?”

I looked at her flawless face.

And I felt nothing.

“Let’s go.”

The banquet hall glittered beneath crystal chandeliers.

Alphas from every major pack stood beside their mates, laughter and conversation filling the room.

I escorted Celeste through the crowd.

Accepted greetings. Returned polite nods. Endured endless compliments.

“Alpha Kael!”

King Alaric Frost approached us with an easy smile.

One of the most respected Alphas in the Northern Lycan Alliance.

“I hear the Silvercrest Pack has expanded its territory again.”

“We’ve made steady progress.” I shook his hand politely.

“Alaric, I’ve been hoping we could discuss a joint development project in the northern territories.”

“Of course.” He smiled warmly. “Let’s find somewhere quieter.”

We moved toward a private corner of the hall.

Celeste remained close beside me, wearing the perfect smile.

“So… this must be the famous Lady Ravenwood. A remarkable beauty.”

Alaric looked her over politely.

“Thank you, King Alaric.” Celeste offered an elegant curtsy.

“I’ve heard so much about you and your Luna.”

“With a bloodline as powerful as yours, I’m sure the two of you already have a house full of exceptional heirs.”

I frowned.

Alaric’s expression shifted almost imperceptibly.

“Celeste…”

I tried to stop her. Too late.

“As a token of goodwill, I specially prepared a bottle of Black Gold Reserve. It’s infused with premium wolfsbane. Perfect for strengthening an Alpha’s bloodline.”

She gestured toward a servant carrying an ornate bottle.

The entire banquet hall fell silent.

The warmth vanished from Alaric’s face.

His icy blue eyes hardened instantly.

“Wolfsbane?”

His voice rumbled like distant thunder.

Celeste smiled, completely oblivious.

“Yes.”

“I heard the northern territories are freezing during winter. This vintage is perfect for keeping warm—”

Crash!

Alaric struck the bottle from the servant’s hands.

It shattered at Celeste’s feet. Dark wine splashed across her gown.

The sharp scent of wolfsbane filled the air.

“Wolfsbane is lethal to Omegas. It would kill my Luna. Were you trying to assassinate her?”

His Alpha aura exploded outward. The crushing Alpha pressure swept across the banquet hall.

Celeste turned deathly pale.

“I… I didn’t know… I just assumed that a powerful Alpha’s mate would also be an Alpha…”

“You assumed?”

Alaric let out a cold laugh.

He looked straight at me.

“Kael. This is the brilliant strategist you’ve chosen? A woman who doesn’t understand even the most basic customs of werewolf society? Someone who does nothing but preach her ridiculous bloodline theories?”

I stood there in silence. The humiliation burned even hotter than my anger.

“Alaric. I’m sorry. This is all a misunderstanding…”

“There is no misunderstanding.”

He gently wrapped an arm around his frightened Omega Luna.

Before leaving, he stopped beside me.

There was no anger in his eyes. Only pity. And disappointment.

“Kael. I’ve heard stories about your former healer. I never met her personally. But they say she could calm even the most berserk wolf with nothing more than a handful of herbs.”

He gave a short, bitter laugh.

His gaze drifted briefly toward Celeste before returning to me.

“It seems that ever since you lost that healer, you’ve settled for far less.”

Then he walked away.

The entire Northern Alliance followed him.

Leaving me standing alone in the center of the ruined banquet.

Surrounded by countless sympathetic, mocking and disappointed stares.

“Kael…”

Celeste reached timidly for my sleeve.

“He’s overreacting. She’s only an Omega. Why is he making such a big deal out of—”

“Shut. Up.”

I lowered my head. My fists clenched so tightly my nails cut into my palms.

My wolf roared inside me.

It clawed violently against my ribs. It wanted to tear everything apart.

Why?

The question echoed through my mind.

Why could Alaric cherish a fragile Omega Luna like the greatest treasure in the world?

Why would he abandon political advantages for her?

Why could his Omega mate be physically weaker yet command everyone’s respect?

And me…

I had possessed an Omega mate capable of healing an entire pack and a son who had worshipped me with all his heart.

Yet I had treated them both like shameful burdens. Like stains on my reputation.

For twelve years.

I had never truly embraced Elara. Never praised Rowan.

Not even once.

I had thrown away a priceless diamond for a shattered piece of glass.

“Damn it…” My wolf howled in agony.

“Damn it all!”
