My Alpha Hid Our Son for 12 Years… Now I’m the Royal Healer He Lost Chapter 01

Twelve years ago, I gave Alpha Kael Ashford a son.

In all those years, he never gave me a mating ceremony. He never allowed our son, Rowan, to call him “Dad.”

I’d had enough.

I stormed into the Elders’ Council Hall and slammed my resignation onto the long stone table.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing, Elara?”

Eight pairs of furious eyes locked onto me. The Elders had just rejected my request to leave the Silvercrest Pack.

Without another word, I tore my lifelong contract as the Pack’s High Healer into pieces right in front of them.

“I quit.” My voice was calm enough to chill the room.

“As of today, the Silvercrest Pack can find someone else to heal its wounded.”

Elder Gideon slammed his fist onto the table.

“Have you lost your mind? You’re the only High Healer this pack has!”

“So what?”I let out a cold laugh.

“Kael has always believed bloodlines are everything. That the weak deserve to be abandoned. Let him go find a healer with a PURER bloodline for his precious pack!”

“Elara!” another Elder snapped, rising to his feet. “You can’t make a decision like this because of a personal grievance—”

“Personal?” I cut him off before he could finish.

“Yesterday, a warrior came back with three broken ribs after fighting rogue hunters. Kael gave one order, and I spent the entire night saving his life.”

“But tonight?”

“For his grand alliance ceremony? I wasn’t even worthy of a seat.”

“Apparently, his IMPURE fated mate might ruin his perfect image.”

The Elders exchanged uneasy glances.

“Twelve years, I gave everything I had to this pack.” I continued.

“And him? He’s standing in the Hall of Alphas, holding another woman in front of every Alpha in the alliance. As if Rowan and I are nothing more than a shameful secret.”

“But the pack needs you—”

“The pack?” A bitter laugh escaped me.

“Or does Kael simply need his obedient little healer chained beside him forever?”

“We never completed the mate bond. I’ve never been his Luna. I have no obligation to stay here for the rest of my life.”

I turned toward the door.

Behind me, Elder Gideon roared.

“Elara! No one can leave the Silvercrest Pack without the Alpha’s approval! And have you thought about Rowan?”

My footsteps faltered.

Rowan. My son. The boy no one knew was the true heir of the Silvercrest Pack.

He was leaving with me—the moment Kael signed those release papers.

That evening, the Hall of Alphas overflowed with representatives from every major pack across the Northern Alliance.

Dominant Alpha pheromones saturated the air, pressing down like an invisible tide.

As the Pack’s Head Healer, I wasn’t permitted inside the ceremony.

I stood alone in the shadows behind a distant stone pillar.

On the stage, Alpha Kael Ashford wore ceremonial black robes embroidered with silver runes.

Tall. Powerful. Untouchable.

Every step he took radiated overwhelming Alpha authority.

This was the man I was about to walk away from forever.

“My fellow Alphas.” Kael’s deep voice echoed through the hall.

“The old traditions have restrained us long enough. Today, we choose our own future. We choose our allies. We choose strength.”

The hall erupted into triumphant howls.

Then Celeste Ravenwood, daughter of the Ravenwood Pack, stepped gracefully onto the stage.

She was a beautiful Beta she-wolf.

She naturally took her place beside Kael, as though she had always belonged there. Like a queen standing beside her Alpha King.

“True power must be guided by wisdom,” Celeste said confidently.

“The strength of Silvercrest and the strategy of Ravenwood. Together, no pack will be able to challenge us.”

They looked perfect together.

Something squeezed around my heart until I could barely breathe.

My phone vibrated. A message from Rowan.

[Mom… is Dad coming to my First Howl tonight?]

My eyes burned instantly.

The First Howl.

Every young wolf only experienced it once.

It was the sacred ceremony marking a pup’s first true connection with their wolf.

An Alpha parent’s presence was vital. Their Alpha aura shielded the pup’s spirit while the wolf awakened.

Without that protection, the pup’s soul could suffer irreversible damage.

I’d promised Rowan his father would be there.

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I sent Kael a private message.

[It’s Rowan’s First Howl tonight. He’s waiting for you.]

A few seconds later, I saw Kael raise his wrist.

His eyes flicked to the communicator. His brows tightened for barely a heartbeat.

Then he lowered his arm and turned back to Celeste, as though he’d never received the message.

No reply. Not even a single word.

Our son’s most important night meant less to him than this political performance.

A reporter stepped forward.

“Miss Ravenwood, what do you think about those who still believe in the old tradition of fated mates?”

Celeste smiled elegantly. Then her eyes found me standing in the shadows.

There was pity in her gaze.

“True leaders shape their own destiny,” she answered.

“They don’t allow fate to make their choices. Only the weak cling to destiny. And the weak are always left behind.”

Approving murmurs swept across the hall.

Kael said nothing.

I stood hidden in darkness while they basked beneath the lights.

I’d loved this man for more than a decade.

I’d given up my pride, my freedom, everything for him.

My fingers unconsciously touched my bare neck. The place where a mate mark should have been.

The day we met, Kael had tried to reject me immediately.

Then came one drunken night.

One accident. I became pregnant.

But twelve years later, I still had never received his mark.

There were no tears left. All that was left was a cold, sharp clarity.

“Left behind…” I whispered the words with a faint smile.

Then I lowered my eyes. Opened my phone. And booked two one-way tickets to Avaloria.

Departure: Two days later.

After confirming the booking, I ran into the night. Back to my son.

The only one who still mattered.

The only one still foolishly believing his father would come.

It’s over, Kael.

Rowan and I are leaving.
