My Alpha Hid Our Son for 12 Years… Now I’m the Royal Healer He Lost Chapter 05

“Elara!” Kael’s panicked shout echoed behind me.

“I didn’t mean for this to happen! I had no idea it was that dangerous!”

I never stopped walking.

He didn’t know?

Could those three words erase everything Rowan had suffered?

Missing his First Howl. The silver whistle. Now this nearly fatal trial.

Every act of cruelty had been justified by Kael’s twisted obsession with strength.

I carried Rowan back to the East Wing Residence. His small body still trembled from the aftereffects of the potion, every shiver lashing at my heart.

I laid him gently on the bed and used the last of my healing power to stabilize him.

Looking at his pale little face, I finally accepted the truth.

I’d spent years believing that if Rowan became strong enough…

Kael would finally see him. Acknowledge him. Love him.

I had been fooling myself.

In Kael’s eyes, Rowan had never been a son who deserved love.

He had only ever been a flawed heir. A child forced to prove his worth again and again through endless trials.

Kael would never change.

His obsession with bloodlines was woven into his very soul.

If we stayed, Rowan would either be destroyed by those so-called trials, or grow into a cold, ruthless Alpha just like his father.

I would never allow either future to happen.

The next morning, after confirming Kael and Celeste were attending an Elders’ Council Hall meeting, I took Rowan, still weak but recovering, to the Moon Altar on the hill behind Alpha Manor.

For generations, this sacred place had witnessed every Alpha’s most important ceremonies.

“Mom…” Rowan looked up at me, worry filling his blue eyes.

“What are we doing here?”

I stepped toward the altar and wrapped my fingers around the ancient ceremonial dagger resting upon it.

Its silver blade flashed beneath the morning sun.

“I’m ending a mistake.”

Without hesitation, I sliced my palm open.

Blood dripped onto the ancient runes carved into the stone.

At once, the runes blazed with silver light.

“Before the Moon Goddess, I, Elara Whitmore, reject Alpha Kael Ashford.”

“I sever this mate bond. Now. And forever.”

The runes erupted. A surge of ancient power rushed through my body.

Deep inside my soul, the mate bond tightened one last time.

Then, it snapped.

Thread by agonizing thread.

Pain ripped through every part of me.

My wolf cried out in anguish.

I collapsed to my knees, gasping for breath as cold sweat soaked my body.

But beneath the unbearable agony, there was freedom.

“Mom!” Rowan rushed to my side.

His small hands grabbed mine, offering all the strength he had.

“Are you okay?”

I managed a weak smile as I leaned on him to stand.

“I’m okay. Better than I’ve ever been.”

I pulled out my phone and dialed a secure international number.

The call connected almost immediately.

“It’s me, Elara.”

A warm male voice answered, filled with surprise and relief.

“Elara? You finally came to your senses?”

“Lucien…” I exhaled shakily.

“Is your offer still open?”

“The Royal Lycan Court and the Royal Healers Guild… is there still a place for us?”

“There always will be. You’ll always have a home here. When are you coming?”

“Now.”

Three hours later, at the Royal Airfield, Rowan and I boarded a private jet bound for Avaloria.

As the aircraft climbed into the sky, Rowan quietly watched the territory of the Silvercrest Pack disappear beneath the clouds.

After a long silence, he looked at me.

“Mom. Are we ever coming back?”

I gently squeezed his cold little hand.

“No, sweetheart. There’s nothing left for us there.”

The moment the plane left the ground, I felt the weight I’d carried for twelve long years finally fall away.
