Mafia Princess Faked Amnesia, Learned the Truth, and Never Returned Chapter 04

My mom came up with an idea. “Then we’ll just say we were playing a joke on her.”

Luca agreed. “Who told her to forget even her own boyfriend after losing her memory?”

With a few words, they settled on how to deal with me.

Isabella put on a sad face. “But I feel so guilty. Elena lost her memory, and here we are deceiving her…”

Mom said, “It’s always been you giving in to Elena. You’ve been the one wronged all along.”

Dad said, “It’s fine. This is all God’s will. He’s chosen to grant you and Luca a wedding.”

Luca even kissed her tears away. “It was my drunken mistake that made you carry this moral burden. Although I can’t betray Elena to be with you, I want to give you a wedding.”

“Before, it could only be a secret one. Now that Elena has lost her memory, it’s the perfect blessing for us.”

I couldn’t be bothered to listen to the rest. I called my second-in-command. “The territory in New Orleans is secured. Come with me and build a new empire.”

Isabella was an outsider to the Bellini family, but my parents gave her so much because of their favoritism.

It had long rubbed my people the wrong way — I was the one holding up the whole declining Bellini family on my own. But back then, I saw her as family, so I never let it bother me.

Second-in-command: “Boss, you were just attacked. Don’t you want to rest a couple more days?”

I didn’t hesitate. “The injury isn’t bad. I’ve already been discharged today.”

Second-in-command: “Alright. I’ll book the flight to New Orleans right away.”

After a pause, he added, “By the way, we’re still investigating who attacked you. It looks like there might be a traitor within the family…”

Is that so? All of a sudden, there were a lot of traitors in my life.

When I came out of the room again, they’d already finished their discussion. My mom looked at my single suitcase. “That’s all you have?”

I hummed in agreement. “Some of the things look like matching couple items. They probably aren’t mine.”

Luca was slightly taken aback, but he didn’t say much.

Before I left, Isabella held my hand and asked, “Will you come to our wedding in three days to be my maid of honor? I’ve already picked out your bridesmaid dress.”

A message from my second-in-command happened to pop up on my phone. [Flights to New Orleans are booked. We leave in three days. Everyone’s going with you.]

After reading the message, I turned down Isabella’s invitation. “Congratulations on your marriage.”

“I won’t be at the wedding. I happen to be busy then.”

My mom’s eyes went wide. “You’re injured and resting at home. How could you be busy? I’ve also handed the family’s affairs to Bella to handle for you…”

Luca let out a cold laugh. “You’re not still hung up on me, refusing to face reality, are you?”

“Elena, I’d drop that idea if I were you.”

No matter how I explained, nobody believed me. They assumed that if I didn’t agree, it meant I still wanted to cling to Luca.

I simply agreed for now. After all, I didn’t need their permission to leave.

For every day that followed, Isabella dragged me along to prepare for the wedding. She didn’t spare a single thought for the fact that I was an injured patient.

They went to the estate chapel to check on the wedding setup. Only then did I learn that this secret wedding had been in the works for two months already.

Whether or not I lost my memory, their wedding would not change. It had only gone from being hidden in the dark to being out in the open.
