Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 18

Nora’s POV

Ethan’s reckless interruption completely enraged Lucian.

He got up and punched Ethan square in the face. Ethan staggered back, caught off guard, blood already seeping from the corner of his mouth. But Lucian wasn’t done. He grabbed Ethan by the

collar, his eyes wild, his top-tier Alpha aura crashing down on everyone.

“Are you ever going to stop? She is my wife and my officially bonded mate, proposal or not. You’re

the one who harmed her. You have no right to stand in her presence.”

Ethan’s face was bloody, but he kept looking at me-his eyes completely shattered.

I pulled Lucian back.

“That’s enough.”

Lucian turned to me, still furious. “Darling, he-”

I shook my head. “Don’t let a meaningless outsider spoil our romantic moment.”

Ethan’s face went pale. Dead pale.

Ireached out, took the ring from Lucian’s hand, and slipped it onto my finger myself. The diamond sparkled under the light-beautiful, like a small piece of moonlight cupped in my palm.

I looked down at it and smiled.

“The ring is beautiful.”

Then I looked up at Lucian.

“Lucian Vale. I want to marry you. So much. More than anything.”

Lucian’s breath caught. Then he pulled me into his arms and kissed me, hard.

Applause and cheers exploded around us. Someone whistled. Someone shouted, laughing,

“Congratulations, Madam Vale!”

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ethan wipe the blood from his lip. After a long moment, and walked away-lost, broken.

he turned

But that didn’t matter anymore. To me, he was already no one.

The night before the mate ceremony, I took Lucian to the cemetery on the edge of the city. My mother, my father, my grandmother-all here.

I wanted to tell them: tomorrow is my mate ceremony. I wanted them to know how happy I am.

I walked up the steps holding Lucian’s hand in one and white chrysanthemums in the other. When I reached the graves, I stopped.

Fresh flowers had been placed in front of each headstone. Next to them was a small card.

I bent down and picked it up.

Only one short sentence.

I’m sorry. May you rest in peace.

No signature. But I recognized the handwriting immediately.

Ethan’s.

Too bad. He only started to repent after he lost everything. And I stopped caring a long time ago.

Lucian figured it out too. He scoffed, grabbed the flowers and the card, and threw them away. After

arranging the flowers, he smoothed his suit formally and began to speak to the tombstones.

“Grandma. Dad. Mom,” he said. “I’m Lucian Vale. Nora’s husband. Her only mate.”

He squeezed my hand. His voice was serious in a way I rarely heard.

“I will protect and cherish Nora for the rest of her life. No one will ever harm her again. She’ll have a home. She’ll be loved. She’ll be happy every day.”

My eyes stung. Tears welled up.

Then Lucian lowered his voice and added, “But you should keep an eye on her from up there too.

Don’t let any stray Alphas get any ideas.”

I choked on my tears and laughed.

“Lucian! Don’t talk nonsense in front of my loved ones!”

He looked down at me, completely unashamed.

“I’m simply putting in a preemptive request for supervision. Totally reasonable.”

I stared at him. Then I laughed-really laughed.

A breeze drifted from the far end of the cemetery, carrying the fresh scent of early summer plants and grass.

In that moment, I knew-Mom, Dad, and Grandma had heard every word.
