Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 16

Nora’s POV

Ethan glanced at me instinctively. There was panic in his expression.

The next second, he hurried over to me.

“Nora, don’t misunderstand. She’s my cousin. She’s getting married soon-I’m just here to help her try on dresses.”

I stared at him for a moment. Then I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Ethan. I couldn’t care less about your female relatives.”

His complexion drained of color gradually. But I was already done looking at him.

“Could you please step outside? I’m about to try on my dresses.”

The attendant looked uncomfortable. “Mr. Shaw, perhaps you’d better head out…”

But Ethan wasn’t listening. His eyes had landed on the gowns next to me. His face got paler and paler. When he saw the mermaid-style mate ceremony dress, his eyes went red.

I looked at that dress and remembered too. The gown we had picked for our mate ceremony back then-it looked almost exactly like this one.

I pointed at the mermaid dress and said to the attendant, “Not this one. I’ll try the other two.”

Ethan’s voice came out rough and strained.

“I’ve heard the news. You and Lucian Vale are holding a new mate ceremony here in New York.”

I ran my fingers over the lace on another gown.

“Then you know the truth. Please leave at once and don’t spoil my mood.”

I knew I was being harsh. I knew it would hurt him. I didn’t care.

I turned and walked into the fitting room, ready to ignore him.

But I never thought Ethan would be so shameless now. He followed me in. And locked the door.

He came toward me, step by step. I backed away until my shoulders hit the cold wall.

Ethan put his hands on either side of me, caging me between his arms and the wall.

His familiar cold-wood scent washed over me. Once, it was the Alpha scent I had loved most. Now, it

just made me angry. Even sick.

“Have you lost your mind? Leave now.”

Ethan acted like he hadn’t heard me. He stared down at me, his eyes raw and desperate.

“Nora. Is there truly no way for us to go back?”

The question was so absurd I almost laughed.

“Ethan, I’m married.”

His throat bobbed. His voice came out hoarse.

“So what?”

I nearly laughed again. “What? Do you want to be my secret lover?”

The words had barely left my mouth when he answered-like he couldn’t help himself.

“What’s wrong with that?”

I froze. He seemed to freeze too, for just a second. But then-like he had nothing left to lose-he

threw all caution to the wind. Those eyes, always so calm and controlled, were now bloodshot and

fierce.

“If you’ll come back to me, I’ll let go of everything – my status, my dignity, my pride as an Alpha. I don’t care about any of it. All I want is you.”

I looked at him.

And I thought-how pathetic.

Back then, I wanted nothing but for him to stand with me, even just once. He never did.

Now I had everything. A mate who loved me. A true mate bond. A new home.

And he comes to me now, saying he’ll give up everything?

It’s far too late. And far too tainted.

I lifted my head and met his eyes, cold.

“Ethan, the way you’re acting now disgusts me more than when you stood up for Sophie all those

years ago.”
