Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 15

Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 15

Nora’s POV

“What are you looking at?”

Lucian’s crisp, melodic voice sounded suddenly from behind me. I snapped out of my daze and pulled the curtains shut.

“Nothing. Just someone who doesn’t matter.”

The faint crimson glow outside was blocked entirely by the thick curtains-shut out of my life, just like that person.

Lucian wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder.

“Are you sure they mean nothing to you?”

I turned around, cupped his face, and kissed him hard.

“Mm. You matter most to me.”

Saying those words out loud made my heart feel lighter than it had in years. Like I had finally said

goodbye to the past for good.

Lucian’s eyes lit up with a smile. The next second, he scooped me up and carried me back to the bed.

“Darling. You’re awfully good at sweet-talking me tonight Let me return the favor.”

A vague sense of unease washed over me.

“Lucian, wait-”

He cut me off with a kiss.

By the time we finally settled down again, the sky outside was almost bright. I was so tired I

couldn’t keep my eyes open. But Lucian was still wide awake, his voice full of joy.

“Nora. I want us to hold a brand-new mate ceremony.”

I blinked up at him sleepily. “Why?”

Lucian played with my fingers, his voice softer now.

“When we first married, neither of us had true feelings for one another.”

He was right. Back then, he needed a suitable Madam Vale, and I needed money and a place to staid.

We were merely mutually beneficial to one another. No romantic proposal. Even the rings were

picked out by an assistant. The mate ceremony had been nothing but a rigid, routine formality. Two

actors playing perfect, cooperative roles.

But now it was different.

Lucian kissed my forehead.

“Now our feelings are mutual. We deserve a proper ceremony of our own. I want to propose to you myself. Put the ring on your finger myself. And in front of every pack member and every business

partner —I want to tell them you’re not my contract wife. You’re my real wife. My only mate.”

My heart fluttered softly.

Lucian went on. “And I want everyone in New York to know how happy you are now.”

I paused. I never really cared what old classmates or distant relatives thought of me. But at that

moment, I thought of my mom. My dad. My grandmother.

I wanted them to know.

I have Lucian now. I am truly happy.

I hugged him and whispered, “Okay.”

Lucian leaned down to kiss me again. I pushed him away.

“Let’s get some sleep now!”

He laughed softly. “Fine. We’ll continue tomorrow.”

The mate ceremony preparations moved fast. Lucian handled everything. The venue. The jewelry.

The dress. The guest list. Even the security details-he reviewed them all himself.

But with Vale Capital officially entering the New York market, he was busier than ever. Pack business alliances and cross-border mergers-everything needed his attention. So I went to try on dresses alone.

The attendant led me into the VIP fitting room.

“Mrs. Vale. Mr. Vale handpicked three gowns for you earlier. Feel free to take a look and pick your favorite.”

I nodded and was about to look at them when a familiar voice came from behind me.

“Nora?”

i turned around.

Ethan was standing a short distance away, wearing a dark suit. H He looked gaunter and more withdrawn than our last encounter Yet his gaze remained deep and unsettling. Like, even after all this time, he still couldn’t let go.

Before I could speak, a fitting room door opened. A young woman stepped out in a white mate ceremony dress, holding up the hem. Her cheeks were pink, her eyes full of expectation as she

looked at Ethan.

“Ethan, how do I look in this dress?”
