Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 14

Nora’s POV

Ethan stared at our joined hands. His face went pale, little by little.

“That’s impossible…”

Lucian let out a low laugh. He reached out and pulled me into his arms-casual, but completely

possessive.

“Mr. Shaw. What’s it going to take for you to believe we’re a real married couple?”

He looked up, lazy and languid, but his tone was sharp.

“How about I prove right here and now exactly who she belongs to?”

My face went hot. I hit his arm.

“Lucian! Don’t talk nonsense!”

Lucian looked down at me, flustered and embarrassed, and only laughed more. He caught my hand

and kissed it.

“Why are you blushing? There’s nothing wrong with a husband and wife being affectionate.”

My face burned even hotter.

Ethan’s expression, meanwhile, had turned dark beyond measure. His eyes stayed fixed on Lucian’s hand on my waist, like the sight of it was physically hurting him.

Lucian had clearly run out of patience. He looked at Ethan, his voice cold.

“Mr. Shaw. See yourself out. Nora and I have private matters to attend to.”

He dragged out the last few words. Then he swept me off my feet and carried me bridal style.

I grabbed his neck out of instinct. “What are you

He leaned down, lips to my ear, and laughed softly. “Let’s head upstairs. We’ve got things to tend

to.”

Then he carried me toward the stairs, taking long strides.

I could feel someone watching me. A gaze, heavy and tight, like it was barely holding itself together.

But this time-I didn’t look back. Not once.

By the time we finally settled down, the night had fallen completely. A cool rain fell outside the window. The bedroom was warm.

Lucian held me from behind, his arms around me. I was so tired I couldn’t move. He pressed lazy, scattered kisses to my shoulder, his voice content and low.

“Darling, I’m the one you love the most now, right?”

My eyes were closed. I was too sleepy to think.

“What?”

“In front of your ex,” he said, proud as anything. “You held my hand the whole time.”

I laughed. “You’re being so childish. There’s no need to be jealous of Ethan.”

Lucian was completely unashamed.

“He was your first love, and I wasn’t. I’ll stay jealous of him for the rest of my life.”

I turned around, wrapped my arms around him, and kissed his jaw.

“You weren’t my first love. But you’re my real one.”

Lucian’s gaze darkened instantly. He leaned down like he was going to kiss me again-I pushed him away.

“Quit teasing. I’m thirsty.”

He hovered over me, his voice low and teasing. “Thirsty, huh? Thirsty for what exactly?”

I pushed him off, red-faced, and grabbed my nightgown.

“I mean I’m thirsty for a drink of water!”

Lucian let out a muffled laugh and finally let me go.

I poured a glass of water and stood by the window, drinking. Then I glanced out.

A black Bentley was parked downstairs.

Ethan was standing next to it.

He hadn’t left.

I didn’t know how long he had been standing there. Rain soaked his shoulders. He looked

disheveled and dejected.

A faint crimson glow flickered intermittently between his fingertips.

I never thought Ethan-who’d always loathed the stench of nicotine-would start smoking.
