POV: Vincent Blackthorn

Unity went rigid. She shook her head frantically.

“No. That wasn’t me. I just told them to wait for you…”

I stepped closer, my fury barely contained.

“Do whatever it takes to make sure I get back-is that what you said?”

“Unity, can you honestly tell me those words never left your mouth?”

Unity bit her lip, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“Vincent, I was just worried about Fiona. I thought she’d be scared alone.”

She rushed to me, grabbing my hands.

“I just wanted you to be with her-to make her feel safe.”

I threw her off.

“Hanging her upside down, tying ropes around her belly, sewing her birth opening shut-that was supposed to make her feel safe?”

“You were trying to kill her. You were trying to kill my pup. Unity, you’re a monster!”

I lunged forward and closed my hands around her throat. My veins bulged with rage.

“I always thought you were gentle and kind. I pitied your suffering. I protected you. I even missed every one of Fiona’s prenatal checkups for you-and this is how you repay me?”

Unity’s face turned crimson. She clawed at my hands.

“I didn’t! That was just an old rogue border method. I thought she’d be fine.”

“Still lying?” I shoved her hard.

Her back slammed into the corner of the table. She gasped in pain.

I stared at her, my voice ice.

“Years ago, you seduced a wealthy merchant in your pack and got pregnant. His mate found out.

She beat you half to death, sewed your birth opening shut, and you lost the pup.”

“And now-you used that same cruelty on Fiona. You are pure evil.”

Unity’s head snapped up.

“How do you know that?”

My gaze turned lethal.

“There’s nothing I can’t find out. I was a fool to trust you.”

“But not anymore. You mean nothing to me now. What you did to Fiona-I’ll make you pay a

thousand times over.”

“No!” Unity crawled to me, clutching my pant leg, sobbing. “I’ll never do it again. Please- remember I saved your life. Spare me.”

“Saved my life?”

That only stoked my fury. I kicked her away..

“I already know the truth. It was Fiona who saved me in that rogue ambush. You stole her glory- and you stole my heart with lies!”

I spun to my Gamma and roared.

“Chain her up. Hang her upside down for eight hours. Tie ropes around her belly and electrocute her for two hours. Then sew her birth opening shut until her pup dies. No anesthetic. No hospital. Break her legs and throw her in the river to rot.”

Unity screamed and lunged at me, but my Gamma slammed her to the ground.

She wailed, “Vincent, you’re so cruel! You gave me all the power to do this!”

I didn’t look back. I waved my Gamma to drag her away and walked toward the ICU.

| Fiona still hadn’t woken.

I pressed her hand to my cheek, my voice cracking.

“Fiona, I avenged you. She’ll never hurt you again. She’s gone.”

“Please wake up. I can’t lose you.”

“I love you. I’ll spend the rest of my life making this right.”

I don’t know how long I knelt there before a cold voice cut through the silence.

“Forgive me. Alpha Samuel paid me a fortune. You crossed the wrong people.”

The strike came too fast.

I barely had time to scream before I looked down and saw a blade buried in my stomach.
