Labor Pain And A Mate Who Ignored My Pleas Chapter 09

Labor Pain And A Mate Who Ignored My Pleas Chapter 09

POV: Fiona Gibson

I opened my eyes.

Chaos erupted around me. Someone shouted, “Get him! Don’t let him escape!”

Vincent collapsed beside my bed, writhing in agony, covered in blood.

Guards flooded in. Then healers.

But the attacker was already gone-shattered glass and an empty window frame.

Someone bellowed, “Get the crash cart! He needs surgery now!”

Vincent waved them off weakly, his teeth clenched, every word a struggle.

“I’m not leaving. I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying with Fiona.”

I forced my arm up and slapped his shoulder, forcing out each word.

“Go. I want my pup.”

Vincent’s head shot up. Sweat plastered his hair to his forehead. A desperate smile cracked his pale

face.

“Fiona. You’re awake. Thank the Moon Goddess.”

“Where is my pup?” I stared at him, my voice barely a whisper.

His smile froze. His mouth opened, but no sound came out.

Tears streamed down his ashen face, mixing with the blood from his wound.

I grabbed his sleeve, my voice raw.

“My pup… is it gone?”

“Tell me.”

He shuddered and gave a slow, agonizing nod. Pain twisted his features.

“I’m sorry. I failed you. When you’re better, we can try again. I swear-I’ll give you everything. I’ll

never say no to you again.”

“No!”

The wound inside me tore open. The pain between my legs burned like fire.

I ripped the IV from my hand and tore off the monitors. My eyes blazed red at him.

“This is your fault. You killed my pup. Get out. I never want to see you again.”

Before I finished, he clutched his chest and vomited bloud. The wound gushed worse than before.

“Alpha Vincent-surgery now. You’ll die if we wait!” The healer screamed, trying to lift him.

Vincent laughed—a hollow, bloody sound.

“No. Not until Fiona forgives me.”

He raised a trembling hand to touch my face. I turned away.

His arm dropped. His head lolled to the side. He was gone.

Gurneys screeched. Voices roared. Chaos swallowed the room.

I closed my eyes. Tears soaked my pillow.

Memories flooded back.

He’d promised to love me forever. Then Unity showed up, and he said he couldn’t bear to see her

suffer.

He stopped coming home. He missed my prenatal appointments-even when the doctor warned the pup might have chromosomal abnormalities and needed an amniocentesis. He’d been with Unity.

The door burst open.

Zara stumbled in, tears streaming down her face. In her hand was the wedding ring I’d thrown off.

She grabbed my hand, her voice shaking uncontrollably.

“Fiona, Vincent asked me to give you this. He said if there’s a next life, he’ll never wrong you

again.”

“Please let him have the surgery. If we wait any longer, he’ll die.”

“I’m begging you. Once he recovers, I’ll make sure he learns his lesson.”

I opened my mouth to refuse-

But a healer appeared at the door, frantic.

“Ms. Blackthorn, Alpha Vincent has lost too much blood. His heart stopped. They’re resuscitating

him now. You need to sign the forms-hurry!”

Zara scrambled to her feet and ran out.

I lay in my bed and let out a cold, hollow laugh.

Good. Let it end this way.

I asked a nurse for my phone. I typed a message to my father.

For the rest of my life-whether he lives or dies-I will never see him again.
