Labor Pain And A Mate Who Ignored My Pleas Chapter 07

Labor Pain And A Mate Who Ignored My Pleas Chapter 07

POV: Vincent Blackthorn

VIP intensive care, Pack Hospital.

Fiona lay wrapped in bandages, tubes snaking from her arms, utterly still.

The room was silent except for the steady beep of the machines.

I knelt by her bedside, clutching her hand, drowning in guilt so deep I couldn’t lift my head.

Fiona’s pain bled through the mate bond, hitting me in waves that made my whole body shake.

Then Zara’s Beta knocked and stepped inside.

“Alpha Vincent, the interrogations are finished.”

He held out a file, his eyes flickering with something unreadable.

I took it. Page by page, I read.

The more I saw, the more my blood boiled.

My Luna-in just a few hours-had suffered horrors I couldn’t have imagined in my worst nightmare.

She’d tried to call me. They’d stopped her. All of them. They’d silenced her cries for help.

Even Beta Thomas.

I went to the dungeons. I grabbed Thomas by the throat, my claws digging into his flesh.

Thomas choked out, “Alpha Vincent, please. Have mercy.

His words came in gasps.

“Please. Spare me… I didn’t want to hurt the Luna. Ms. Valentine said it was your command.”

“I was just following orders. You always treated Ms. Valentine better than Luna Fiona. I thought… I thought she’d be the new Luna…”

Thomas’s words hit me like a fist to the chest.

Yes. Every bit of their confidence came from me.

This was my fault. All of it.

My grip loosened.

Thomas collapsed to his knees, clutching his throat, still pleading.

“I was wrong. That time-when Ms. Valentine claimed she saved you from the rogue border. You let her take credit. I thought you loved Ms. Valentine. I thought you’d listen to anything she said. I was

so wrong.”

“What?”

I stared at him, stunned.

Thomas blinked back at me, equally confused.

“You didn’t know?”

“That time at the rogue border-you were ambushed, trapped in a rogue den, at death’s door. Luna Fiona infiltrated alone. She used her bloodied cloak to draw their attention away and pulled you out. She took a wound to the shoulder that day.”

“I filed a full report and left it on your desk.”

“The next morning, you ordered me to protect Ms. Valentine, calling her your savior.”

Memory crashed over me.

The day I woke from my coma. I’d gone to my study. A battle report sat on my desk, clearly stating that Unity Valentine had infiltrated the enemy camp and rescued me.

I’d barely set it down when Unity appeared from the corner of the study, her shoulder bandaged, blood soaking through her clothes.

I’d held her, swore I’d protect her forever.

And all of it-a lie.

Unity Valentine. Abused, orphaned, innocent-looking Omega.

The gentle she-wolf I’d vowed to shield with my life.

Beneath that soft mask was a heart of pure poison.

I turned and marched toward Unity’s room.

I pushed open the door. Her eyes lit up when she saw me.

“Vincent, you’re back. The healer said our pup is doing well-just needs a couple more days of

monitoring.”

She tugged at my arm, her voice honey-sweet.

“How’s Fiona?”

“I heard she’s here too. I feel terrible-I didn’t know she was actually in labor. Don’t take it too hard, alright? You have to take care of yourself.”

I watched her flawless performance, and rage flooded my chest.

I pulled my arm free and spoke in a voice calm as frost.

“Who told Beta Thomas to have Dr. Roberts prescribe labor suppressants?”

“Who called Uma and told her to do whatever it took to make sure I got back before Fiona gave

birth?”
