Labor Pain And A Mate Who Ignored My Pleas Chapter 06

POV: Vincent Blackthorn

I needed to see Fiona with my own eyes. I needed to know she was safe.

After this, I’d never bring up the fact that she’d dumped me again. If she made it through, she could

scream at me, hit me-I’d take it all.

My mind flashed to our mating ceremony. She’d smiled and said, “Vincent, you’re the most

honorable man I’ve ever known. Becoming your Luna is my greatest blessing.”

Now that memory carved a hole straight through my chest.

I reached the Pack House in minutes.

Even from a distance, I could see it-Zara’s Beta and his warriors had the place surrounded.

Dread crushed the last shred of hope inside me.

I barely waited for the car to stop before I scrambled out, stumbling over my own feet.

I burst through the gates, ignoring the guards’ salutes.

“Fiona!” I shouted, my voice echoing through empty halls.

No answer.

In the great hall, Uma knelt in chains, flanked by Zara’s warriors.

I grabbed her by the collar and yanked her to her feet.

“Where is Luna Fiona?”

Uma trembled like a leaf, stammering, “The Luna… the Luna was taken to the hospital.”

My last shred of hope died right there.

Panic and helplessness sent my Alpha aura roaring outward. Even Zara’s Beta staggered under the

weight of it.

I kicked Uma to the ground and sprinted toward the bedroom.

When I threw the door open, I froze.

The room was empty-but the bed was soaked in blood. A long smear of red and fluid trailed across the floor. The iron frame lay overturned, ropes scattered everywhere. And beside them-

A bloody needle.

My wolf knew before my mind caught up. He knew what his mate had endured.

Pain buckled my knees. I dropped to the floor, clutching my head.

I couldn’t imagine what Fiona had gone through.

Why?

Why hadn’t she called me?

Why hadn’t Thomas told me?

Questions crashed through my skull, but there was no time for answers.

I had to see her. If she or the pup didn’t make it, I’d never forgive myself.

I scrambled to my feet and ran.

Driving was too slow. I shifted on the spot and sprinted toward Pack Hospital on four legs.

By the time I stumbled into the emergency wing, Zara was leaning against the wall, her eyes fixed

on the red light above the operating room door.

I lunged toward her, grabbing her sleeve.

“Zara, how is Fiona?”

Zara ripped her arm free and glared at me like I was filth.

“Shouldn’t you be with your little vixen? What are you doing here–checking to see if Fiona and her pup are dead yet so you can clear the way?”

The words choked me. I couldn’t defend myself.

“No. That’s not it. I just told her to wait. I didn’t know-”

“Wait?” Zara cut me off with a bitter laugh that made my blood run cold. “Do you think labor can

wait?”

She grabbed my collar with both hands.

“Dr. Roberts gave her labor suppressants. Uma shoved them down her throat.”

“Beta Thomas had her sedated.”

“Unity told them to hang her upside down, tie ropes around her belly, and sew her birth opening

shut.”

“And she said it was your order!”

Zara’s voice climbed higher with every word.

I shook my head, desperate.

“I didn’t. I never said that. I didn’t know any of this. I thought you were lying to me.”

“I love her. How could I ever do that to her?”

Zara’s fury flickered into shock. “You really didn’t know?”

Before I could answer, the operating room door swung open. A healer rushed out, face tight with

urgency.

“The Luna is hemorrhaging. Severe vaginal tearing. Fetal heartbeat is failing. She needs blood immediately.”

Llunged forward, grabbing the consent form. My hands shook so badly I could barely hold the pen.

“Save her. Use my blood.”

“Take my life if you have to. Just save her and the pup.”
