Indeed Is My Weapon, Silence Is My Shield Chapter 06

Margaret looked completely lost at their over-the-top reaction.

Robert, older and savvier, recovered fast.

He forced a smile. “Elena, I’m not accusing you of faking anything. I believe this report is real Derek was the one who was swapped. We were wrong about that.”

“But that doesn’t mean Derek broke Isabel’s things. You understand what I’m saying, right?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I get it. But I have proof.”

Robert’s smile froze.

I asked the housekeeper to bring me a projector and pulled up the hidden camera footage from

Isabel’s room.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please watch the video.”

On screen, Derek crept into Isabel’s room, broke her precious misprint collectible, checked to make

sure it was destroyed, and snuck back out, completely missing the new camera I’d installed.

The timestamp showed it happened after they got home and before I walked in.

Derek clutched his chest for real this time, staring at me in disbelief. “You put a camera in Isabel’s

room?!”

I rolled my eyes. “I told you all, I install cameras wherever I sleep. Didn’t I say that?”

Isabel turned her swollen, red-rimmed eyes on him. “Derek! Why would you do that?!”

Robert jumped in fast. “Isabel, he must’ve had a reason. He’s always been so good to you.”

I tilted my head. “Funny. A minute ago you were telling me to move out. But Derek gets excuses?

That’s pretty obvious favoritism, don’t you think?”

“Anyone would think Derek’s your real son and I’m the one who was swapped.”

Robert shot me a dark look at those words. “Derek and Isabel grew up together as siblings for years.

He probably wasn’t thinking straight.”

I nodded like I accepted that.

Isabel clearly didn’t. “Then why did you blame Elena?” she demanded.

Derek stammered, “Because-because she took your room! I was trying to help you get it back!”

Even Isabel wasn’t naive enough to buy that. The guy had broken her stuff, framed somet and now he was pretending it was for her sake.

She gave him a disappointed look and said nothing.

Robert stepped in again. “Isabel, don’t be mad. For your birthday, I’ll buy you that necklace you always wanted. Consider it Derek’s apology.”

Isabel glanced at me. “And what about Elena? Derek framed her. What does she get?”

Robert didn’t answer. Margaret did.

“Then Derek’s 5% shares, the ones we were going to give him for his birthday, go to Elena. As

compensation.”

Isabel nodded. “I’ll give mine to her too. For accusing her.”

Robert’s head snapped up. “Margaret, we agreed Derek would get those shares so he could join the company. Now-”

Margaret cut him off. “He broke Isabel’s things and blamed it on Elena. That’s not what a

responsible brother does. I think joining the company can wait.”

Derek’s eyes burned red with hatred. Robert opened his mouth, then shut it under Margaret’s cold

stare.

I dropped my gaze.

Maybe Margaret wasn’t as naïve as I’d thought.
