Indeed Is My Weapon, Silence Is My Shield Chapter 05

I walked in to screaming.

A handbag flew at my head. I ducked.

Isabel was wailing at the top of her lungs. “Elena! If you hate me, just say it to my face! Why did you destroy my collectible?! That was a misprint, one of a kind! And I was going to give you that bag as a gift!”

She was hysterical, sobbing harder than when Derek had “fainted.” This was genuine.

Derek fanned the flames. “Mom, Dad, I told you she was rotten. She’s jealous because we didn’t take her shopping, so she trashed Isabel’s favorite thing. She never should’ve come back.”

Margaret’s face fell with disappointment. “Elena, I told you, if you wanted something, you could’ve asked me. Why would you destroy your sister’s most precious possession?”

Robert didn’t even lecture me. He just slid a black card across the table. “Elena. You’ve brought nothing but chaos since you arrived. For the sake of family peace, you need to move out.”

Just like that. They were kicking me out.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Derek’s grin. He couldn’t hide it.

Smile all you want. Let’s see if you’re still smiling in a minute.

I took a deep breath and yelled, “EVERYONE. QUIET. Let me speak.”

Isabel hiccuped and went silent. The whole room froze.

I exhaled and continued calmly. “Yeah, I could have broken her stuff. But I didn’t.”

Derek couldn’t hold back. He sneered, “You say you didn’t, so who did? Who else in this house has a motive?”

I smiled sweetly at him. “Why, my dear brother, oh wait. You’re not my brother, are you?”

His face drained of color. “What are you talking about?”

I handed out copies of the DNA report to everyone. “Here you go. Lab results, fresh out of the envelope. I just picked them up this morning.”

Derek went white. His eyes rolled back and he collapsed.

I caught him, and dug my fingers into his side so hard he jolted. He couldn’t keep the act up. He opened his eyes and stood back up.

Margaret was still in shock, too stunned to notice.

Isabel’s mouth hung open, tears frozen on her cheeks. Her voice cracked with disbelief. “Wait—I’m NOT the swapped one? I’m really their daughter?!”

Robert gripped the report, knuckles white. “This doesn’t prove anything. DNA tests can be forged.”

The report showed clearly: both Elena and Isabel were Margaret’s daughters. The swapped child wasn’t Isabel.

It was Derek.

Not a fake heiress and a real one. A real heiress and a fake son.

I smiled at Robert. “You’re right, DNA tests can be forged. So if you don’t believe it, let’s all test again together. Officially. Right now.”

“No!”

Robert and Derek shouted at the same time.
