Indeed Is My Weapon, Silence Is My Shield Chapter 02

Isabel latched onto one detail. “But the cameras here have been broken for months.”

I tilted my head. “Yeah, they were. But I fixed them yesterday.”

I’d been a doormat my whole life. I never picked fights, just went along with whatever people said. But no matter what I did, someone always seemed to want to punch me.

So I installed cameras everywhere I lived. Whenever someone got violent, I’d roll the tape, and they’d back off.

First thing after arriving at Shaw Manor, I hired a tech to check every camera and patch the whole house. 360-degree coverage.

Margaret and Robert were confused at first, but when I told them about my childhood, how I’d been beaten, they softened up and let me do it.

Isabel was out shopping that day, so she had no clue.

I pulled up the footage, cranked the volume, and played it right there.

There she was, fake-sweet and offering me her room with that innocent act. And there was Derek, calling me a hick from the middle of nowhere.

I zoomed in on Isabel’s sarcastic little smirk and Derek’s sneer.

Margaret and Robert looked uncomfortable. Margaret cleared her throat. “Okay, they were wrong. I’ll talk to them. But you could’ve just explained yourself, you know?”

I fast-forwarded to the part where I did explain.

Margaret turned red.

They went quiet, which in their world meant burying it and moving on.

I pulled out my phone. “I already booked a group DNA test. Want me to confirm it?”

Margaret forced a smile. “That’s… not necessary.”

I frowned. “But what if Derek was swapped too? We’re supposed to be twins. They could’ve taken two kids at once.”

“And look, Isabel and I actually look alike. But Derek? Not so much. Weird, right?”

Derek and I are supposed to be twins. If we were really siblings, we should look alike.

But the moment I came home, I could see Derek and I don’t share a single feature.

Isabel, though? She and I could be copies of each other. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Margaret nodded without thinking.

Robert cut me off, his voice sharp with frustration.

“Enough! You’ve made your point. I’ll have Derek and Isabel apologize, all right?”

“They were wrong, but there’s no need for you to be so aggressive.”

“Look at yourself, is this how you want to act?”

“Isabel, apologize to your sister.”
