Indeed Is My Weapon, Silence Is My Shield Chapter 01

I’d always been a pushover. Whatever anyone said to me, I’d nod along. If someone told me the earth was flat, I’d say, “Yeah, that could be true.”

Then I got diagnosed with pathological agreeableness.

When my biological family finally tracked me down and brought me home, the fake heiress—the girl who’d lived my life—teared up and offered to give me her room.

“I took your place all these years,” she sniffled. “This room should be yours. I’ll just move to the guest wing.”

I nodded. “Yeah, that makes sense. Guests belong in the guest wing. Since you’re not family, that’s where you should go.”

Her face went pale. She looked like she might collapse.

My so-called brother pointed at me and roared, “I only recognize Isabel as my sister. Only her.”

I nodded again. “Sure. Honestly, multiple-child households are a pain. I always tell people I’m an only child anyway.”

He turned purple, then keeled over and passed out cold.

I stood there dumbfounded. Was I not supposed to agree with them?

Derek clutched his chest and hit the floor.

Isabel screamed and burst into tears.

The commotion brought my new parents running. They rushed in, demanding, “What happened? Why is Derek unconscious?”

Isabel wiped her eyes, shrinking back dramatically. “It’s—it’s because of Elena. She…”

She trailed off, leaving them to assume I’d knocked him out myself.

Both of them turned to glare at me.

I shrugged. “He said he only has one sister, so I told him I tell people I’m an only child. Then he dropped.”

At my foster parents’ house, I was an only child. That wasn’t wrong.

Isabel kept crying, trembling over Derek’s body like she was the victim.

Margaret Shaw pulled her into a hug, and she shot me a sneaky glance before wailing, “Elena was mad at me for stealing her family! She tried to hit me, and Derek stepped in to protect me, and that’s how he got hurt!”

Just straight-up lying.

Margaret whirled on me, furious. “You’ve been home one day and you’re already bullying your brother and sister? How could I have raised such a monster?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I might have hurt them—except we have cameras all over this house. Let’s pull the footage and see, shall we?”

“Also, maybe I’m not even your daughter. DNA tests can be wrong. And just to be safe, maybe all three of us—Isabel, Derek, and me—should retest with you. Who knows? Maybe none of us are actually yours.”

“For all we know, one of you might have been unfaithful.”

That shut her up fast. She started fanning herself, speechless.

Robert Shaw snapped, his face stiff and serious as always, “What the hell are you saying?”
