Before I could answer, Alex had already grabbed Adrian by the collar, lifted him up, and tossed him aside.

His eyes narrowed.

“Vivian, who is this man?”

“Do you want me to have someone take care of him?”

Then I smiled at Adrian.

“Adrian, who I choose to be with has nothing to do with you.”

“Don’t forget, we divorced a long time ago.”

“If you keep bothering me, don’t blame my boyfriend for not showing you any mercy.”

Alex’s eyes lit up.

But Adrian only became angrier.

“Who does he think he is?”

He stared at me.

“Vivian, don’t think you can escape from me.”

“If I want to take you back, running all the way to the Montavera won’t save you.”

He pulled out a black card and turned toward Alex.

“Brother, there’s five hundred thousand dollars on this card.”

“Leave my wife, and the money is yours.”

Alex let out a cold laugh.

He didn’t even bother wasting a word on him.

The contempt in his eyes was impossible to miss.

I looked at Adrian mockingly.

“Adrian, did you not bother finding out who he was before coming here?”

“If you’re really capable, then try taking me away from the Sterling Family.”

“The Sterling Family?”

“Are you talking about the Sterling Family, the famous shipping magnates?”

Adrian took a step back.

“Even so…”

“We’ve been together for ten years.”

“How can you just let go of everything so easily?”

He looked at me desperately, holding onto his final hope.

“Think about your family.”

“You still have your father and brother in Alderwick City.”

I let out a cold laugh, disgust filling my voice.

“Adrian, all of you lied to me for years.”

“It wasn’t until now that I finally understood why my mother suffered from depression and died so young.”

“My own father deceived me for more than twenty years.”

“Do you really think I still care about him?”

Adrian opened his mouth, his voice filled with pain.

“But you promised me.”

“You said that if I gave you money, you would accept everything and leave the past behind-”

I cut him off.

“Yes.”

“Whatever we had in the past is gone too.”

I turned away in disgust and grabbed Alex’s arm.

“Let’s go.”

“I never want to see him again.”

Alex glanced at Adrian.

His dark eyes were filled with a bone–chilling coldness.

I knew he probably wouldn’t let Adrian off easily.
