I Was His Luna, Not His Trash Chapter 01

I thought I was doing a good thing. I had just set Chloe up with a suitable match, the childhood friend of my alpha mate Aaron.

Seattle’s city lights streaked past the car window as Aaron drove, and our son Aiden sat in the back. The hot milkshakes I’d just bought for them warmed my hands.

Then Aaron spoke, his voice cold. “You know, sometimes you’re really pathetic.”

I froze. The brown paper bag in my hands rustled. Had I heard him right?

My twelve-year-old son Aiden snorted from the back seat, crossing his arms. “Mom, Dad and Chloe have been together for two years. How many hints do you need? How can you be so dense?”

It felt as if time itself had frozen. I slowly turned my head to look at them. In the rearview mirror, Aaron’s expression was calm. His eyes met mine, and all I saw was exhaustion and weariness.

“What he said…” I stammered.

“Look, I don’t want to be cruel,” Aaron said, his gaze dropping back to the rain slicked road.

“But you had to go and set Chloe up with another man. You have no idea how upset she was today. It’s time to make a decision. Break the bond or leave me. The choice is yours.”

Tears burned hot in my eyes. I was his Luna, his chosen mate. Was this really how it ended?

Aiden rolled his eyes. “Mom, say something. Dad’s giving you a choice. You’re not as young or pretty as Chloe, so don’t be stupid. ”

A sob caught in my throat. The bond I had treasured for over a decade now felt like a knife ripping through my chest.

“Ugh, here come the tears. So pathetic. I hate it,” Aiden said viciously. “You’re so embarrassing. Remember last week’s School Family Day? It wasn’t canceled. I had Chloe go instead. I didn’t want you there.”

Thunder crashed inside my head.

Last week’s Family Day. For the first time in six years, Aiden had invited me. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep.

But that morning, I had a sudden severe allergic reaction. My face swelled, my throat tightened, and I couldn’t speak a word.

Panicking, terrified of being late, I swallowed a handful of allergy pills, put on my shoes, and headed for the door.

Aiden stopped me, looking surprised. “Where are you going? Family Day was canceled.”

I believed him.

It was just a cruel lie from my own son.

Noticing me staring at Aiden, Aaron’s expression grew even colder. “I slipped the drugs into your coffee. Don’t blame Aiden. That amount wasn’t enough to kill you.”

Not enough to kill me.

That morning, I developed a high fever. By night, I was vomiting nonstop, too weak to even crawl to the phone. If I hadn’t managed to hit the emergency button before I blacked out, I would have died.

And them? The three of them, my mate, his mistress, and my son, were watching fireworks over the bay. A perfect little family.

The next day, Aaron just shrugged. “Omegas really are fragile, aren’t they? Barely past thirty and already falling apart.”

The pain in my chest felt like an open wound. Before I knew it, tears were streaming down my cheeks.

When we got home, Aaron sent Aiden to his room. Foolishly, I thought he might apologize. But he just turned to look at me, his expression unreadable.

“Look, we don’t have to break the bond,” he said, as if making a huge concession. “But Chloe is pregnant. Two months along. When the baby is born, he’ll live with us. You’ll help raise him.”

Another lightning strike. “What? You…when?”

“While your mother was dying,” he sighed. “You were so grief stricken; you shut me out. But I was in rut…and Chloe was very selfless.”

A hoarse scream tore from my throat.

My hand flew out. “You bastard!”

Aaron slowly turned his head, a red mark blooming on his cheek. His usually warm amber eyes were now pitch black, ice cold.

“Yeah, I’m a bastard. But what about you? Are you completely innocent? Or have you already forgotten your own…little mistake?”

Thunder rumbled outside, illuminating my terrified reflection in the floor to ceiling window.

Five years. I had buried that memory, clawed my way out of that abyss. And he just brought it up so casually.

One night, when Aaron’s startup was on the verge of bankruptcy and drowning in debt, he came home dead drunk and shoved a contract into my hands.

“Take this to the client. Golden Crown Hotel. Go now.”

I hesitated. That place was notorious for illegal dealings.

But Aaron grabbed my shoulders, his eyes wild. “You have no idea how hard this is for me! It’s just a business deal. This is for me! Are you really that selfish?”

“If I go under, what happens to Aiden’s future?”

Seeing the tears in his eyes, I gave in.
