I Waited For My Mother’s Blessings, Only To Find She Gave All Her Luck To My Sister Chapter 08

I Waited For My Mother’s Blessings, Only To Find She Gave All Her Luck To My Sister Chapter 08

Before I could answer, Rhonda cut in.

“Hailee is married to my son now–this is her home!

Still fuming from Mom’s cold attitude, Rhonda added, “Why don’t you go home yourself? A grown

woman with zero manners! Unbelievable!”

Because Mom’s blessings were worth millions, people had always treated her with deference.

She had never been disrespected like this before.

Her face turned pale with anger as she glared at Rhonda.

My heart squeezed tight. Remembering how a single talk–back had cost me Daisy, I immediately

shielded Rhonda, terrified Mom might utter a curse

“Mom! Stop talking!”

Mom froze, assuming I was speaking to her.

In the next second, Rhonda casually took over the conversation.

“What, can’t stand me saying a few things about her? Feeling protective already?”

Rhonda feigned outrage, so I nudged her side gently and whispered in her ear, “I’ll explain after she

leaves!”

Rhonda pouted, but she finally shut her mouth.

Mom’s heart sank, her tone stiff and forced. “You call her ‘Mom‘?”

I turned back to face her, my expression instantly cold.

Mom caught every bit of that shift.

Her fingers clenched into tight fists, her body going stiff.

I let out a sigh and dropped the bomb without hesitation.

“Leaving without a word was my fault, so let me make it clear now–we’re done. We’re cutting ties.”

Mom’s face went completely pale.

Her posture slouched, as if she had suddenly aged len years.

A cool breeze rustled the fallen leaves on the ground.

Mom looked up at me, at Rhonda, and at the guard dog baring its teeth.

Everything about us screamed that she wasn’t welcome.

Yet her feet felt glued to the floor.

Ever since I vanished, she hadn’t been able to find a trace of me.

Nightmares had tormented her every night.

In one, I hadn’t gotten married at all, but was kidnapped.

In another, I died in a car crash on my way to the wedding.

The torment was eating her alive.

She had tried to call Morris, only to realize her contact list contained only Darrell‘ number.

She even had Darrell’s parents‘ numbers.

On Charlee’s wedding day, she had exchanged contacts with everyone, saving even Darrell’s niece’s number, terrified that if something happened to Charlee, she wouldn’t be able to reach

anyone.

She’d thought of everything.

Except that when Morris had come to visit that day she hadn’t said a single word to him, let alone

saved his number.

She had tried to look for me at my in–laws‘ house, only to realize she had no idea where it was.

She had never cared about my marriage.

She had never met Morris’s family.

How could she possibly know where they lived?

Without a way to reach me, she had no idea where to start looking.

She hired a private investigator. Two weeks later, he finally traced me to France.

Before coming here, she had even turned down Charlee’s invitation.

She had imagined our reunion countless times in her head.

She wanted to ask why I had left without a word.

She wanted to take my hand and tell me to come home.

She had even brought local specialties for me to share with my in–laws.

She had imagined so many scenarios.

The only thing she hadn’t anticipated was this.

I looked at her with cold indifference, as if we weren’t mother and daughter bound by blood, but

complete strangers.

She had traveled thousands of miles expecting a reconciliation, only to be met with a total

severing of ties.

“Why?”

Mom looked up, staring straight at me.

Her voice trembled.

“Why do you want to cut me off?”
