I Risked My Life to Awaken My White Wolf for Them, Then Learned It Was a Prank Chapter 06

The Pack Hospital’s basement holding room was cold.

A white sheet covered me from head to toe. The arguing outside was loud enough to push through the heavy soundproof door.

A sharp slap rang out. Adrian had struck Ivy across the face, his Alpha rage barely contained.

“This was your brilliant idea?”

“A prank? You killed her!”

Ivy clutched her cheek, sobbing so hard she couldn’t breathe.

“How is this my fault?”

“When we rehearsed the lines, you were laughing the hardest!”

“You said if the video went viral, making her suffer a little was worth it.”

“You’re the one who pushed her out there!”

Adrian’s face drained, then burned red.

“You wrote the script!”

“If you hadn’t been so obsessed with landing a brand deal, so obsessed with livestreaming this, Nora never would’ve taken the activator!”

Mason stepped in front of Ivy.

“Stop pretending you’re the one grieving.”

“When she was coughing up wolf blood, you threw napkins at her and told her to go clean up.

“You’re the one who said she was faking and threatened to cancel the mating ceremony.”

“Now she’s dead, and you want to play the devastated mate?”

The people who’d once laughed together were now tearing each other apart in the hallway. No one was willing to admit they’d pushed me toward the end, again and again.

My mother sat on the bench, expression blank.

“Nora was never this fragile before.”

“When she was little, even after I’d yell at her, she’d still make breakfast for the whole family the next day.”

“Why… why didn’t she come back this time?”

She didn’t understand. Why the daughter who’d always endured everything, who’d always cleaned up everyone’s messes, had suddenly vanished.

She murmured, “Why did she drink it? She… she was trying to save us!”

The realization hit her, and she buried her face in her hands, sobbing.

A staff member walked over and handed her an itemized bill for emergency services and burial

arrangements.

“Who’s covering the costs?”

The hallway went silent.

Adrian had completely fallen apart. His wolf had lost its mate and gone silent, shutting out everything.

Mason just stared up at the ceiling.

Ivy kept her head down, sobbing.

The people who’d been blaming each other moments ago-not one of them stepped forward.

Finally, my mother pulled out her phone with trembling hands.

“Ivy, lend Mom some money first.”

“Your brand deal already paid out, didn’t it?”

Ivy froze.

“The money all went to buying traffic and equipment.”

My mother looked at Mason.

“You cover it first.”

Mason stepped back.

“I blew it all on my girlfriend.”

“Didn’t Nora always handle these expenses?”

Yes.

No matter what happened, I was always the one paying bills, standing in line, working, taking the blame. I

was their cheapest ATM and their protector who never said no.

But now, the ATM was empty. And the white wolf who’d stood in front of everyone was dead.

Mom picked up my phone with shaking hands.

“Use the money in her account to pay first.”

She numbly entered the password.

The balance was a few dollars.

Adrian suddenly rushed over. He checked the bank cards linked to my accounts.

Almost all empty.

Adrian’s head snapped up.

“She just got paid last week. Where’s the money?”

“I saw how hard she was struggling-I gave her spending money sometimes!”

My mother suddenly remembered something.

“She gave me some. Said it was for this month’s living expenses and medicine.”

Mason mumbled:

“She paid off the balance on my warrior training gear.”

Adrian stared at the screen.

“The rest went to my car loan.”

It all added up.

I couldn’t even cover my own funeral costs.
