I Risked My Life to Awaken My White Wolf for Them, Then Learned It Was a Prank Chapter 07

Adrian let out a broken sound. He hadn’t just lost a mate.

He’d lost the woman who’d once defended his Alpha position and spent the next seven years covering for

everyone.

Then Ivy’s phone started vibrating wildly.

Countless comments and DMs flooded her account.

[Murderer! Liar!]

[You made her give her life for a fake threat!]

[I’m a werewolf. Let me explain-what she took is a banned substance. Like performance-enhancing drugs in the human world. It gives you a massive burst of power for a short time… I think she used her life to protect her family one last time.]

[She thought she was saving her family-and all you wanted was views!]

The livestream had already been screen-recorded and spread across every platform humans and werewolves shared.

The Pack Council and police contacted them separately soon after.

Though my death came from taking the activator myself, it wasn’t necessarily enough to constitute intentional harm-but the fake threats, unlawful confinement, and profiting from the livestream still required investigation.

Worse still, the entire Silverpine Pack had seen what they’d done.

They went back to my rented apartment that night, trying to avoid reporters and furious pack members.

I’d been pretty well-liked in the pack. They called me the people’s Luna-the one who never acted above

anyone.

Now, angry pack members were calling for Adrian to step down as Alpha.

Adrian walked in with the others.

The apartment was full of my scent, but it was fading. The place was cramped and quiet. The fridge was almost empty.

A worn account book sat on the dining table.

Adrian opened the first page.

[Paycheck deposited. Rent, Mom’s medicine, Mason’s training fees, Adrian’s car loan. What’s left is only enough for the cheapest bread.]

[Overtime pay deposited. Renewed Ivy’s health supplements. My chest has been hurting lately too. Just hold on a little longer.]

Page after page, all numbers calculated over and over for this family. Not a single entry was for me.

My mother snatched the book and flipped to the last page. It was written the day before Thanksgiving.

[The cabin’s booked. They all love it there. Adrian’s been stressed with pack business lately-hopefully this dinner helps him relax. If Ivy’s video takes off, maybe she can start supporting herself soon.]

The handwriting ended there.

My mother clutched the book and slid to the floor, finally breaking down.

“Nora… Mom was wrong.”

She finally remembered every time she’d been sick from her Omega constitution, I’d stayed up all night by her bedside.

When there was no food in the house, I was the one who went out to find extra work. But it was too late.

Mason grabbed his hair in frustration.

“What’s the point of crying?”

“Everyone at the training camp knows. My instructor said I don’t deserve to be a warrior who protects the pack!”

“I might get expelled!”

Adrian laughed coldly and threw the account book at him.

“You getting expelled is nothing”

“The elders are demanding I temporarily surrender my Alpha authority.”

“They think a man who’d push his own fiancée toward a threat has no right to protect the pack.”

“Nora’s dead. Who’s going to pay your training fees now? Who’s going to buy your mother’s medicine?”

The room went dead silent.

They finally realized what they’d lost wasn’t just a person. They’d destroyed the very foundation their lives

had been built on.

Ivy curled up in the corner of the sofa.

“So what do we do?”

Adrian was quiet for a moment, then something seemed to occur to him.

“Nora had an accidental death insurance policy.”

“The beneficiary was me.”

“I want to donate it to the pack in Nora’s name.”

My death might bring in a substantial insurance payout-enough to help him stabilize his standing in the

pack.
