I Planned to Announce My Pregnancy, Boyfriend and Bestie Announced Their Wedding Chapter 03

[Elena’s POV]

My mind flashed back to two months ago.

That night, he held me tightly and traced my features with his fingertips.

“Elena, I want to build a home with you.”

Now he was holding another woman and claiming he’d never slept with me.

Resentment and fury surged through my chest.

Why should our five years together be erased and twisted into a lie?

I let out a bitter laugh, looked them straight in the eye, and enunciated every word.

“Yes, the baby is Nathan’s.”

“We’ve been together for five years. Three days ago he said he was going to marry me. Vivian, you’re the other woman.”

The whispers died instantly.

Vivian stared at me in shock, clearly not expecting me to expose her in public.

Nathan was frozen too.

We had kept our relationship secret from everyone because he always said the timing wasn’t right and that we should wait before going public.

I listened because he’d always treated me well, respected my boundaries, and put me first.

So I waited for five years.

I thought the pregnancy meant we’d finally get married.

Instead, I got news that he was marrying someone else.

How ridiculous.

I turned to Vivian.

“Don’t worry. I don’t want Nathan, and I don’t want the baby either.”

I didn’t linger. I pushed through the crowd and walked away.

Behind me, I think Nathan called my name.

But I didn’t care.

I still chose to terminate the pregnancy.

The operating table was ice-cold, the anesthesia needle stung, and the overhead light was so bright I could barely keep my eyes open.

I closed my eyes as tears slipped down my cheeks and silently said goodbye to the little life inside me.

An hour and a half later, I left the recovery area with one hand braced against the wall.

The heavy ache in my lower abdomen hadn’t eased, but I blinked back my tears and forced myself forward one step at a time.

Another text from Nathan appeared on my phone.

[Elena, don’t get rid of the baby. I’ll explain everything after the wedding!]

I ignored it and turned off my phone.

I got home around dusk.

By the time I reached the entrance to Oakhaven Estates, the neighbors who were usually friendly were staring me up and down.

Pat spat at me.

“Shameless!”

I grabbed her wrist.

“Aunt Pat! What do you mean by that?”

She yanked her hand away.

“Go home! You’ve nearly worried your mother to death!”

I didn’t argue. I sprinted inside.

I pushed open the door and found Mom lying in bed, pale and gasping for breath.

I rushed to her side and grabbed her hand.

“Mom! What’s wrong? Is your heart acting up? Did you take your medication?”

I frantically yanked open drawers looking for her pills. She grabbed my sleeve.

Her eyes were bloodshot and filled with pain.

“They say… you’re pregnant with Nathan’s child. Is that true?”

I froze. I dropped my gaze. Tears fell silently.

Mom broke into a violent cough and spat up a mouthful of blood.

“Mom!”

I instinctively cupped my hands beneath her mouth, but the blood quickly spread across the floor.

She gripped my wrist tightly.

“Elena, tell me… did he trick you?”

I nodded, crying.

Mom’s fist clenched.

“I’m going to make that bastard answer for this!”

Somehow, she wrenched herself free of me and ran out the door.

I slipped in the blood as I scrambled up. By the time I made it outside, she was already running across the street.

On the other side, Nathan and Vivian were holding hands, sharing a caramel latte.

“Nathan!”

Mom ran toward them in a frenzy, never seeing the truck barreling toward her.

“Mom!”

The whole world went silent.
