I Ordered A Puppy Got Two Incubi Instead Chapter 03

I really had tried to build some kind of relationship with Xavier.

The problem was, the guy had a terrible attitude and absolutely refused to meet me halfway.

Technically, Adrian was the one I’d actually paid for. Xavier had basically come as a bonus package. At this point, I was pretty sure the reason he’d been thrown in for free was because nobody else wanted to deal with his personality.

I’d assumed Xavier wouldn’t show up for the whole bed-warming thing.

But after I finished showering and walked back into my room, there was one incubus stretched out on each side of the bed.

The entire bedroom smelled warm and sinful, thick with male pheromones and body heat.

Adrian smiled and held out a hand toward me.

“Come here, Master.”

Right before climbing into bed, I suddenly regained my sanity.

I stopped beside the mattress.

“The bed’s warm now, so you two can head to your own room. I already made the guest room up for you. There’s only one bed in there for now, though. Sorry about that. I’ll buy another one tomorrow.”

I honestly hadn’t expected to end up with two incubi.

Adrian obediently climbed off the bed, but he hesitated after standing up.

“You don’t want us to sleep with you, Master?”

I tested the blankets they’d warmed for me. The sheets were still radiating heat.

“No. If I need anything, I’ll call you.”

Adrian grabbed the stubborn Xavier and slowly headed for the door, looking back every few steps. There was a strange disappointment in his eyes I couldn’t quite understand.

“Did we do something wrong, Master?”

“No.” I shook my head. “You’ve been great.”

Seriously. Cooking, cleaning, warming the bed…

The internet had been right.

How was this not way better than having a boyfriend who only knew how to piss you off?

The blankets still carried the sweet, intoxicating scent of incubi.

That night, I ended up having a ridiculously explicit dream.

In the dream, both incubi wore collars around their necks, half-dressed and chained to the foot of my bed. The whole thing looked like something straight out of a shameless fantasy novel.

I woke up horrified.

I’d actually had a sex dream.

About the incubi I bought.

What the hell was wrong with me?

I sounded like some thirsty pervert who couldn’t even spare her own household demons.

The seller had promised that incubi were incredibly affectionate, but apparently not enough to stop me from waking up in the middle of the night dying of thirst.

I dragged myself out of bed to get water.

As I passed the guest room, I vaguely heard Xavier’s furious voice through the door.

“Adrian, she’s messing with us!”

…Were they talking about me?

Adrian’s voice turned cold.

“No one would ever want a demon like you.”

It was the first time I’d ever heard gentle, patient Adrian sound genuinely angry.

Apparently, he was scolding Xavier.

Even though I hadn’t known them long, I could already tell Adrian was the dominant one between them. Xavier might have been rebellious and sharp-tongued, but Adrian was clearly the one keeping him in line.

Adrian sighed heavily.

“Xavier, we’re not stray demons anymore. We have a home now. We have a Master.”

“As mature incubi, we need to give her time to adjust. I’m sure once she gets used to sleeping surrounded by our scent, she’ll come looking for us herself.”

At the time, Xavier had reluctantly agreed.

Later, though, he went right back to acting out.

More than once, I overheard him secretly cursing me under his breath.

“She’s evil. She won’t even feed us!”

“I can handle starving, but she can’t just refuse to feed us!”

“Adrian, if this keeps going, we’re both gonna die! A bonded demon that doesn’t feed eventually weakens to death!”

…What was he talking about?

How had I not fed them?

Xavier paced restlessly around the room.

“Wait, wait, wait. That’s all you ever say! If you’d listened to me from the start, we would’ve eaten already!”

Adrian snapped back immediately.

“Do you remember how many demons like you ended up getting recycled?”

“Because you’re violent by nature. Aggressive. Unstable. Impulsive.”

Born bad.

The phrase made me pause.

What exactly did that mean?

“You’d better stop thinking about forcing a feeding,” Adrian warned coldly. “If you scare the Master, neither of us will survive the consequences.”

After that night, Xavier got noticeably worse.

He stopped helping around the house entirely.

No cleaning. No warming the bed.

Whenever I came home, I’d usually find him sulking alone in a corner, clawing at the wall like an angry cat. Every word out of his mouth sounded hostile, and his temper became more unpredictable by the day.
