I Ordered A Puppy Got Two Incubi Instead Chapter 02

Before I could even process what was happening, the two Incubi had already followed me into my apartment like they belonged there.

The white-eared one sat neatly on the couch, hands folded in his lap. His expression was soft, warm, almost gentlemanly. His eyes curved when he looked at me, like he was constantly holding back a smile.

The other one was the complete opposite.

Black pointed ears. Deep bronze skin. Wild curls that looked impossible to tame. Sharp features, broad shoulders, dark eyes that locked onto everything with predator-level focus. There was something untamed about him, something dangerous.

From the second he walked in, he hadn’t stopped moving.

He prowled through my apartment, sniffing around corners, glancing into rooms like a wolf inspecting new territory.

Only then did I finally remember to message the seller.

Me: [You there?]

Customer Service: [Your package shows as delivered successfully, dear customer~ Is there a problem?]

I quickly explained that I’d somehow received two Incubi instead of one.

Customer Service: [Congratulations, dear customer~ You unlocked a hidden edition package!]

Me: […What?]

Customer Service: [This model is a special promotion. Buy one, get one free~]

I stared at the message.

Seriously?

I’d paid clearance-sale prices and somehow ended up with two insanely attractive demons?

That felt illegal.

I glanced at the white-eared Incubus quietly scrolling through his phone on the couch, then at the dark-skinned one currently sniffing my bookshelf like he was searching for explosives.

I typed cautiously:

Me: [Can I return one?]

Specifically the scary one.

After a pause, I added:

Me: [I can’t afford to raise two.]

Customer Service: [Dear customer, Incubi are not like puppies and do not require traditional feeding methods~]

Customer Service: [All our Incubi are professionally trained and fully capable of independent living. As long as they are properly satisfied, they can help ease their owner’s burdens and even share daily life responsibilities~]

Customer Service: [Our records show both Incubi and the complimentary gift have already been signed for, so returns are unfortunately unavailable~]

No matter how much I argued, the seller refused to take one back.

Eventually, I gave up.

Honestly… one demon was work, but two demons for the price of one? That still sounded like a bargain.

I repeated you got a deal, you got a deal in my head until I finally accepted reality.

Then I looked back at them.

I had no idea how people normally called for Incubi, so instinctively I clicked my tongue and went, “C’mere, c’mere.”

The white-eared one immediately set down the phone.

“Master, my name is Adrian Everett.”

The dark-skinned one wandered over a second later, hands shoved into his pockets, looking thoroughly unimpressed.

“What.”

Before I could respond, Adrian smiled politely beside him.

“Master, his name is Xavier Everett.”

Adrian and Xavier.

They looked like opposite ends of the universe.

One elegant and obedient. The other all sharp edges and bad attitude.

I nodded awkwardly. “I’m Hazel Vance. And… I guess this is your home now.”

Then I remembered something.

“The seller mentioned a free gift. Do either of you know what it is?”

Xavier immediately scoffed and turned his head away like he was offended by the question itself.

God, what a brat.

Thankfully Adrian was infinitely easier to deal with.

Without hesitation, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the “bonus item.”

A pet collar.

Exactly the leash-and-collar set I’d jokingly mentioned to the seller before.

Under my stunned gaze, Adrian calmly fastened the sleek white collar around his neck.

Then he placed the leash handle into my hand.

“Master.”

His white pointed ears twitched softly.

Behind him, a heart-tipped tail swayed lazily back and forth.

Good lord.

Incubi really were built to seduce people.

I swallowed hard and gave the leash an experimental tug.

“Want to go for a walk?”

“Anything you want, Master.”

Xavier snorted. “Only dogs wear collars.”

Five minutes later, I stood in my living room holding two leashes.

Adrian wore the white collar.

Xavier, somehow, had ended up in the pink one.

The bright pink against his dark skin looked unfairly good.

Meanwhile, Xavier looked absolutely humiliated.

His jaw was clenched so hard it looked painful, like putting on the collar had violated every ounce of dignity he possessed.

Which was hilarious considering he’d put it on himself.

Yeah… Xavier was definitely going to take more effort to tame.

Still, walking two six-foot-three Incubi through downtown Seattle on leashes felt like a fast track to becoming tomorrow’s tabloid headline.

So instead, I stayed inside and “walked” them around my apartment.

After half an hour, I finally unclipped the leashes.

Adrian blinked at me, confused. His tail curled around my thigh possessively.

“Master… we’re done already?”

Wow.

Someone had a lot of energy.

I patted his head. “We’ll play again tomorrow. Right now I’m making dinner.”

And after dinner, they could warm my bed.

Adrian’s amber eyes darkened slightly at that.

Unfortunately, I completely missed whatever that expression meant and headed straight for the kitchen.

I’d just pulled ingredients from the fridge when it hit me that I didn’t live alone anymore.

I had two freshly delivered Incubi in my apartment.

So I stepped back out to ask if they had any dietary restrictions.

Instead, I froze.

Adrian had taken his shirt off.

Smooth pale skin stretched over lean muscle. Not bulky, but sculpted in all the right places.

I’d honestly assumed his soft personality came with a slim, fragile build.

Apparently not.

Even worse, he was trying to make Xavier take his shirt off too.

Xavier looked deeply offended.

“Hell no. I’m not serving anybody,” he snapped. “And taking my clothes off? Dogs don’t strip.”

I blinked. “Uh… what exactly are you two doing?”

The second Xavier heard my voice, all that swagger instantly vanished.

But his tail shot straight up behind him.

With an aggressive yank, he ripped his shirt off anyway.

“Fine,” he growled stiffly. “Let’s make this quick.”

Unlike Adrian, Xavier’s body looked powerful even fully dressed.

Without the shirt, it was almost overwhelming.

Solid muscle. Broad chest. Defined abs. Deep bronze skin that practically radiated heat and raw masculine energy.

I stared blankly.

“Make what quick?”

Adrian spoke gently beside him.

“Master wasn’t preparing to feed?”

“Yeah,” I said slowly. “I was going to ask whether you guys wanted Peanut Butter and Jelly or Jelly and Peanut Butter.”

Xavier’s entire expression cracked.

“You’re kidding me,” he said, horrified. “I took my clothes off for that?”

Adrian glanced at the jars of peanut butter and jam in my hands and immediately understood.

Then he laughed softly.

“Right. Humans eat differently.”

I stared at him.

How else was I supposed to eat?

Photosynthesis?

Thankfully Adrian rescued me from the awkwardness. He walked over, took the jars from my hands, and smiled warmly.

“You should rest, Master. Leave the cooking to me. Xavier and I aren’t picky.”

The weather had already turned chilly with autumn settling in, yet under Adrian’s apron… he was apparently wearing absolutely nothing.

“Aren’t you cold?” I asked.

His hands were long and elegant, ridiculously attractive even while washing vegetables.

Adrian glanced at me over his shoulder.

“As long as Master enjoys looking at me.”

Liar.

I absolutely did enjoy looking.

I reached out and rubbed his swaying tail with shameless delight.

Okay, maybe I liked touching too.

Seriously.

Best purchase of my life.

Adrian turned out to be terrifyingly competent in the kitchen too. Less than thirty minutes later, he carried out a full spread of food that looked restaurant quality.

“Dinner is ready, Master.”

I hurriedly called both of them to the table.

Ever since moving out and living alone, I’d barely eaten proper meals.

Most days were takeout, instant noodles, or forgotten groceries rotting in the fridge until I threw them away.

Clearly buying an Incubus had been the right decision.

I thought they were just supposed to warm beds.

Nobody told me they came with cooking skills too.

Then I remembered that online comment:

[As long as you keep an Incubus satisfied, he can do anything.]

So I immediately piled more food into Adrian’s bowl.

“Eat more. After dinner, come warm up my bed. Winter sheets are freezing.”

Adrian smiled beautifully.

“Of course, Master.”

Across the table, Xavier watched the two of us getting along and let out a cold, annoyed scoff.
