I Jumped With Her She Landed in My Husband’s Arms Chapter 03

Vincent had planned to have the driver take me straight home.

But he got a call from Kaylee at the last minute.

“Take another car. Kaylee wants this one.”

He pulled me out of the car. The moment the door clicked shut behind me, the car immediately turned around and sped off.

Not a second of hesitation.

All the other cars left right after Vincent’s, leaving nothing but exhaust in the air.

I was stuck on a hillside on the outskirts of town, miles from any neighborhood, with no one else around.

I started walking home alone when a text from an unknown number popped up.

It was a photo.

Two hands laced tightly together.

Where Vincent’s promise ring sat, he’d once worn the cheap wedding band we’d saved up to buy.

[Sorry about that. Everyone does what Vincent says, and they put me first. They had to rush to get the flowers in vases and forgot you.]

[There are no extra cars left. I saw a farm cart on the road. You don’t mind making do with that, do you?]

She’s always been doted on and pampered by Vincent.

She thought a farm cart would break me.

Back when I was juggling all those side gigs, I’d ridden in garbage trucks before.

A farm cart was nothing.

But as I read her message, my eyes drifted to a contact I hadn’t reached out in seven years.

The last text was from seven years ago.

Ezra: [Mom, Dad, and I have been waiting for you to come home, Audrey.]

Ezra: [I’m only giving you seven years. If he hasn’t made anything of himself in seven years, what’s the point of staying with him?]

My brother Ezra Kingsley’s definition of a loser had trapped me for seven years.

After moving to Yreuford, I’d doubted myself countless times.

I’d hidden my identity in Klatdale and turned a failing subsidiary into a thriving business.

But every job in Yreuford had fallen apart.

I’d blamed myself a thousand times, but never once suspected the man next to me.

He had me trapped for seven years, all for nothing more than playing house on a shoestring budget.

I clenched my phone tightly, my thoughts in turmoil.

Suddenly, my phone rang.

It was Vincent’s special ringtone.

It made me sick to hear now.

“Didn’t I tell you not to cause trouble with her?”

“She was nice enough to find you a ride. Why did you yell at her? Those guys were just following my orders. So if you want to kick up a fuss, aim it at me.”

I whispered back a quiet okay.

I would definitely make him pay.

As furious as I was at the woman he’d cheated with, I was even more furious at him.

I pulled out the marriage certificate I carried with me.

I took a photo of it.

Then I hacked into the Larson family’s private group chat.

I posted only two pictures. One was my marriage license with Vincent. The other was the photo Kaylee had sent to provoke me.

I didn’t have to say a word. The chat exploded.

I vaguely remembered the head of the Larson family, Vincent’s grandfather.

He’d been a minor figure at parties in Klatdale.

But there was one thing about his philosophy of running the family that I truly agreed with: A man who loves his wife will thrive.

He’d always said the Larson family didn’t care about social status, only loyalty after marriage.

He would never excuse any Larson family member who cheated on their spouse.
