After that day, Rafe not only refused to give up, but started appearing around me even more often.

When Old Don Vittori’s birthday came around, Rafe pestered me for a long time and offered me all kinds of incentives before I finally agreed to attend the birthday banquet.

Of course, the biggest reason was that Celeste would be there too.

Before seeing Celeste again, I had thought everything from back then had already been settled, one injury repaid with another.

“What are you doing here?”

The expression on her face made it very clear that she did not want to see me.

But I very much wanted to see her.

“I heard you’d be here tonight, so I accepted Rafe’s invitation.”

“I came to catch up with an old classmate.”

Beside me, Rafe urged,

“Let’s go inside first. Old Don is waiting for you.”

I naturally took Rafe’s arm.

Celeste’s eyes widened, her face full of disbelief.

“Rafe!”

She stomped her foot and called after him.

“Have you forgotten how she humiliated you back then?”

“Have you forgotten that you searched for her for so long and almost died in a car accident on the way?”

“Why would you still like a woman like her?”

Curious gazes began turning toward us.

Rafe looked back and warned her coldly.

“Don’t make a scene.”

Those few short words cut into Celeste like a blade.

Her expression turned wounded, as if she had suffered some enormous blow.

Rafe lowered his head and murmured something to me.

But I had no interest in listening.

I kept looking back, enjoying the expression on Celeste’s face.

“Sera.”

Rafe suddenly stopped and looked at me with an aggrieved expression.

“You pay more attention to Celeste than you do to me.”

I almost failed to hold back a laugh.

After Rafe took me to meet Old Don Vittori, he was kept behind in the study.

When I came down from the second floor, I spotted Celeste in the crowd at once.

She was the most striking woman there.

It was hard not to notice her.

Before I could walk over, Celeste came to me first.

“What do you want?”

Unlike her furious expression, my smile was calm.

“Do you remember promising to apologize to my mother?”

“Celeste, when are you going to apologize?”

She scoffed.

“Apologize?”

Celeste leaned close to my ear.

“Aren’t you afraid I’ll have her killed?”

She was the kind of person who never learned her lesson.

She thought that because there were so many people around, I would not dare do anything.

The truth was, I really did not dare cause a scene at Old Don’s birthday banquet.

After all, this was the Vittori Family’s turf.

“Celeste, I’ll ask you one more time.”

“When are you going to apologize to my mother?”

She looked me up and down with contempt.

She refused to apologize.

And she warned me to stay away from Rafe.

All I had wanted was for her to apologize.

Since she refused, I had no choice but to punish her another way.
