Over the next few days, Ava was forced to handle the dirtiest and most exhausting work in the villa.

At dinner, she was ordered to carry plates and serve the food.

As Ava set a dish on the table, Mia raised her hand as though by accident.

Scalding soup poured directly over Ava’s wrist.

Blisters immediately rose across her skin.

Pain made her hand jerk, and the bowl crashed to the floor, spilling soup everywhere.

Mia screamed and immediately threw herself into Matteo’s arms.

“Ava, did you break that bowl on purpose?”

Ava’s voice was cold.

“Too bad it didn’t land on your face. If you can’t control your hands, you shouldn’t have them.”

Matteo saw the blisters on her wrist.

He only frowned and said nothing.

The same kind of thing kept happening over the next several days.

Before long, Ava’s hands were badly burned, swollen, and red.

Every day, Luca caught mice and cockroaches and shoved them into her room.

He also deliberately soaked and dirtied her bed.

At first, Ava still broke down.

Eventually, she felt nothing.

She kept herself going for one reason.

Once her paperwork was approved, she would leave for good.

One day, a male servant began groping her and grinned.

“Ms. Collins, now that the Underboss has thrown you away, how about giving me a chance?”

Ava was about to speak when Mia suddenly appeared and cried out deliberately.

“What are you doing?”

Mia sneered.

“Ms. Collins really does seduce every man she sees.”

Ava lifted her foot and kicked the servant between the legs.

As he screamed, she walked up to Mia and slapped her across the face.

Mia covered her cheek and glanced downstairs.

Then she suddenly threw herself backward and tumbled down the stairs.

Ava froze for a moment before rushing down.

Matteo had just entered and caught Mia in his arms.

A bright red handprint covered Mia’s face.

She cried and hid against Matteo’s chest.

“Matteo, I accidentally saw… I saw Ms. Collins getting involved with a male servant. I tried to stop them, but then…”

The servant scrambled downstairs and began sobbing.

“Ms. Collins seduced me. It was all her…”

Matteo’s expression instantly darkened.

He stared at Ava through clenched teeth.

“Will you die if you don’t throw yourself at other men?”

Ava sneered.

“Matteo, you’re disgusting, so you assume everyone else is disgusting too.”

Mia sat up and cried accusingly.

“Ms. Collins, if you hadn’t stayed out all night, dated different men, deliberately tormented Matteo, and trampled all over his love, he never would’ve come back to me. You have no right to criticize him!”

Ava clenched her fingers and shouted, “But I never betrayed him!”

Even after they remarried, no matter how much she resented and hated him, it had all been an act.

She had never truly betrayed him.

Matteo looked at her.

Some of the anger faded from his face.

Mia sneered.

“You disgraced yourself with all those men at Luca’s Heir Recognition Gala, and you still dare claim you never betrayed Matteo?”

Matteo’s eyes turned completely cold.

He lowered his gaze, lifted Mia into his arms, and spoke in a harsh voice.

“Since you enjoy hitting people so much, you should find out what it feels like.”

He looked at the servant, who was still trembling.

“You do it.”

The moment he finished speaking, someone restrained Ava.

The servant stood up and slapped her again and again, insulting her under his breath.

“You really thought you had the right to reject me? You even dared to kick me, you filthy bitch…”

The metallic taste of blood filled Ava’s mouth.

Her ears rang, and her vision went black.

Matteo stood nearby, staring at her as he waited for her to beg.

Ava never made a sound.

His expression grew colder and colder.

In the end, he turned and left with Mia.

Ava had no idea how many times she was slapped or how many times she was pushed down the stairs.

Eventually, she couldn’t hold on any longer and lost consciousness.
