He Took the Wrong Turn on Our Wedding Day Chapter 06

Grant tore through every channel he had trying to find Serena.

But Bianca kept showing up, same as always, every time she hit a wall.

“I’ve got a work thing I can’t figure out. Can you just look at it?”

It was always the same.

Every problem went straight to Grant.

And he’d always fix it. No matter what.

Even if they’d been fighting days before.

Grant shoved the papers back at her.

“Stop. I mean it. Stop coming to me. I don’t have time for this. I’m trying to find Serena.”

Bianca’s eyes welled up.

“So that’s it? You’re just done with me? Serena ghosted you for a few days and suddenly I don’t matter

anymore? She’s throwing a tantrum, Grant. She’ll get over it.”

“If I’d known this was how it’d end, I never would’ve come to your wedding.”

Grant went still.

He’d never thought about it like that. On the wedding day, he’d only been thinking about Bianca: making sure

she had no regrets, waiting a little longer for her. It had never occurred to him that Bianca had been doing all

of it deliberately.

He didn’t recognize the girl he’d grown up with anymore.

“Bianca, I’m done. I treated you like family, and you used it to destroy the one person who actually mattered. I was an idiot for putting you first.”

He’d always held on to what they’d had growing up.

He’d thought of her as a little sister.

They’d grown up together. Of course the bond ran deep.

But right now, all he wanted was to cut her loose.

“We’re done. I don’t want you in my life anymore.”

Bianca’s face didn’t even flinch. Like she’d been waiting for it.

“Fine, Grant.”

She turned and walked out.

“Don’t come crawling back to me when you change your mind.”

This was their pattern; it had been since they were kids.

Whenever they fought, Grant was always the one who caved first.

He’d always treated her like she was made of glass.

Even now, she was convinced he didn’t mean it.

That night, she went out and drank until she couldn’t feel anything.

When a mutual friend called Grant to come pick her up from the bar, he found her slumped in a booth. And the alcohol was doing the talking.

“I gave him that card on purpose. Obviously I knew what department it was. I just wanted to see the look on Serena’s face when she dragged her mom all the way there for nothing.”

She couldn’t stop bragging.

Grant was hers. He’d always been hers.

Grant was standing right there behind her booth.

He heard every word.

Whatever was left of the girl he thought he knew shattered.

They’d shared a childhood. Good years. Real memories.

After he started dating Serena, Bianca had gone abroad.

They kept in touch online.

He’d told himself it was harmless: just one more person in his life he cared about.

He’d felt guilty about it, even then.

When he first told Serena about Bianca, she’d taken it well.

“Of course you should look out for her. You grew up together. Maybe she and I will even hit it off.”

That goodwill didn’t last.

Grant put Bianca first. Every time.

He’d sidelined Serena more times than he could count.

Serena had pushed back. She had.

And every time, Grant turned it around on her.

“Didn’t you say you’d get along with her? You keep starting drama and making everything harder. How am i supposed to deal with both of you?”

He’d watched Serena go quiet, over and over. Eyes down. Argument over.

And he’d still told himself he wasn’t the problem.

Serena had tried to leave him once.

He’d proposed to keep her.

She’d always been easy to win back.

He wasn’t so sure anymore.
