Scarlett was draped over Ethan on the couch, feeding him fruit.

She saw me and wrinkled her nose again.

“Claire, you’ve been touching dead bodies. Don’t bring that bad energy back here.”

Ethan shot me a cold look.

“Don’t ever try to bury your family in my cemetery again. Not everyone belongs there.”

I watched them, calm, and dropped a divorce agreement on the table.

“Ethan. I want a divorce.”

He froze. Then slammed his fist down.

“Because your sister got hit by a car? That’s what you’re leaving me for?”

I nodded.

“Yes. Because she died.”

Ethan scoffed.

“Claire, everything you have came from me. If you leave, who in Grandcrest is going to touch a used woman?”

Scarlett walked over, fake sympathy dripping.

“Claire, you’re a housewife. Without Mr. Vance, you have nothing. He’s worth billions.”

I smiled at her.

“Then he’s all yours.”

I turned and walked out.

That same day, I filed for divorce.

Ethan couldn’t believe I was serious. He blew up my phone with voice messages.

“Claire, you drop the case against Scarlett and then come after me? Is this your game?”

“You haven’t worked a single day since you married me. How are you going to survive without me?”

“If you want a divorce, you’re walking away with nothing. Absolutely nothing.”

The news spread fast. Ethan started spreading rumors online that I was cheating.

He said I took my sister’s blood money and ran off with my lover.

The day of the hearing came.

Because of the previous case, the courthouse was packed with reporters and onlookers.

“Claire, you took money to drop the murder case, and now you’re suing for divorce? Are you addicted to extortion?”

“Claire, is it true you cheated? Are you really taking your sister’s blood money to run off with some guy?”

Ethan stood on the steps, looking down at me.

“Last chance, Claire. Back out now. If you walk into that courtroom, you’re leaving with nothing.”

I smiled.

“Let the judge decide.”

I walked in.

The hearing started.

Ethan presented the ten-million-dollar transfer and photos of me with different men at hotels.

Then he put on his thoughtful face.

“Claire, I didn’t want this to go public. You forced my hand.”

“Your sister must be rolling in her grave knowing you’re spending her blood money on another man.”

I laughed.

“Let me ask her how she feels. But first—how’s your sister doing?”

A young woman in the gallery stood up.

“I’m not dead yet. Whose blood money did my sister take?”
