He Made A Fool Of Me On April Fools, So I Married Another Man Chapter 04

He Made A Fool Of Me On April Fools, So I Married Another Man Chapter 04

The one who’d just returned from abroad-Liam’s uncle, always overseas.

And the first thing he did after coming back? He got married.

To Joy Johnson, of all people.

Liam smashed his phone. The crash jolted Skyler awake.

She frowned, annoyed. “Bro, what’s wrong? Did Joy pull another stunt?”

“Let me tell you, and you can’t indulge that. The more you give, the more she’ll take.”

She stood, slinging an arm over his shoulders. “Listen. Freeze her out. She’ll come crawling back.”

Liam shoved her off. “Joy married my uncle yesterday. It’s all

over the news. How should I stay calm?”

Skyler’s eyes widened. She grabbed her phone. Sure

enough,Joy and Ethan. Married.

A smirk curled her lips. “Married? So? You were tired of her. This is perfect.”

“Relax, bro. If you want a girlfriend, I’ll hook you up with my classmates from abroad. Beautiful, sweet, way better than Joy.”

Liam started getting dressed, his tone dripping with disdain. “Those girls are just for fun. They can’t compare to Joy.”

“Besides, I just don’t want to marry young. Who said I don’t want to marry her?”

The moment he said that, Skyler’s face twisted with

embarrassment and hatred.

“Then don’t overreact. The news is fake. Joy’s putting on a

show.”

“She’s your girl. Years together. Did she ever talk to Ethan? Why marry him now?”

“I think she was mad yesterday and used Ethan’s return to stir

up drama.”

“Look, this news doesn’t even have photos. How could it be

real?”

Liam grabbed her arm, his eyes locked on hers. “Are you telling the truth?”

Skyler flinched. Guilt flashed, but she nodded. “Of course. Joy

loves you. She’d never marry someone else.”

Only then did Liam let go. He exhaled, relieved. “I knew it was

her trick.”

“I’ll find her. Clear this up. My uncle’s mood is unpredictable.

He won’t let her off easy.”

Liam went back to the villa first, only to find every trace of me

gone.

He started calling and texting, only to realize I’d blocked him.

That’s when panic set in.

Meanwhile, I was stunned. The arranged marriage partner?

Liam’s uncle, Ethan.

After Liam left yesterday, Ethan appeared.

I thought he was just passing by. But he said he came looking for me.

Seeing the bruises, his eyes turned cold enough to freeze blood. “Sorry I’m late.”

“No direct flights. I had to connect. That’s why I’m late.”

I gaped at him, stunned. “The arranged marriage partner is you? You’re Liam’s little uncle.”

He nodded. “That’s right. Me.”

“But what does that matter?”

His gaze turned deep as he looked at me. “You agreed. Now you can’t back out.”

Ethan is the late-in-life son of the Hayes family patriarch, Lawrence Hayes. He’s only five years older than Liam. After college, he went abroad and stayed there, was overseeing the European division of Hayes Corp.

In terms of talent and looks, he outshines Liam.

I gritted my teeth. “I’m not backing out. But Skyler threw my

ID out. And look at me.”

He shook his head. “That’s not a problem.”

“First, let me take you to the hospital to treat your wounds.”

The doctor finished bandaging me. Ethan already had the

license.

Looking at the warm certificate, I gaped. “That’s possible?”

He smiled faintly, silent. “Just in case you back out.”

I stayed in the hospital overnight. He stayed too.

The next day, as soon as he left, Liam showed up.

“Joy, have you lost your mind? To mess with me like this, spreading fake news.”

“You faked a license. My uncle’s temper is vicious. He’ll be

furious.”

“Now the news is everywhere. You need to go online and apologize immediately, or I can’t help you with this.”

Skyler followed, faux-concerned. “Joy, you can’t lie. The whole world says you married Ethan. How does Liam face his

uncle?”

“You’re ruining Liam for your own selfishness. That’s not love-that’s possession.”

I froze. “Online? The whole world knows about this?”

Seeing my reaction, Liam thought I was faking. His face darkened. “Stop pretending. You sent it to the media.”

“It’s all over the place now. You need to explain yourself online.”

I unlocked my phone. Sure enough, every headline was about me and Ethan getting married.

Looks like he’s the one who leaked the news.

I kept my expression calm, put the phone down. “Why should

I apologize? I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Liam flew into a rage. “No shame? He’s my uncle. You’re humiliating me on purpose.”

I smirked. “Whether you’re humiliated or not is none of my business. You refused to marry me, so I…”

Liam cut me off. “Because I wouldn’t marry you, you lie and marry my uncle? And you’re right?”

“You’re shameless.”

My anger flared. “Liam, how dare you judge me? Look at what you’ve done.”

“I’m telling you and I won’t apologize. I didn’t lie. You’re the one who’s clueless.”

He grabbed my wrist, hauling me up. “No excuses. You’re coming to the press conference to apologize.”

My wrist burned where he gripped it. My bandaged knee hit the table corner, making my face pale.

“Liam, let go.”

But he kept dragging me forward. “I need you to apologize publicly. I can’t let you keep making mistakes.”

Still talking about apologizing, I bit his arm, hard. He yelped, shook me off. I hit the floor.

“You’re crazy, biting me like that.”

I leaned against the bed and staggered up. “You deserved it. And now you want me to apologize? How?”

“Kneel? Or get slapped?”

“Liam, I’ll tell you the truth and I really did marry Ethan.”

I pulled the marriage license from the nightstand. “This is the license. See for yourself.”

But Liam snatched it, sneering. “You think a fake license can

fool me?”

Then he tore the license apart and threw it at me. “Now what

do you have to say?”
