He Made A Fool Of Me On April Fools, So I Married Another Man Chapter 05

“You’re crazy!” I slapped Liam. My marriage license lay in

shreds.

“What gives you the right to tear that up?”

Liam scoffed. “It’s fake. I tore it. Now come on-quit the

drama.”

Skyler shook her head. “You think you can fool him? You’ve dated for years. Why would Ethan marry his nephew’s girl? Think the Hayes are clowns?”

“He brought you to apologize. Don’t, and piss off Ethan- you’re dead.”

I spoke firm. “I’m not lying. We’re married. Call him if you

don’t believe me.”

Liam shook his head. “Stop spouting lies. I’m not calling my uncle to check. The press conference is set-go apologize and say it was all a misunderstanding.”

He grabbed my wrist, tugging me toward the car. I struggled. He shoved me into the passenger seat.

“Liam, if you treat me like this, Ethan won’t forgive you.”

Liam started the car, sneering. “I’m saving his reputation.

He’ll thank me.”

“Worry about yourself. When he finds out you lied, you’ll see. Think about your apology.”

In the car, no matter how much I explained that Ethan and I

were legally married, Liam refused to believe.

Half an hour later, he dragged me to the press conference venue. Media reps were packed inside.

Liam pulled me out. Reporters swarmed. He spoke first. “The

news is fake. Joy’s my girlfriend. She faked it for attention. She’s here to apologize.”

Then he gave me a look. “Joy, apologize now.”

“Joy, is it true? You faked marrying his uncle for attention?

What’s wrong with you?”

Facing the hostile media, I spoke up.

“I didn’t fake any marriage news with Mr. Ethan. We actually got our marriage license.”

“He refuses to believe the truth. He’s delusional.”

Liam’s face turned livid as he glared at me “Joy, how dare you.

lie? My uncle would never marry you. Apologize now-say it was all your own stunt. Otherwise, I’ll never forgive you.”

I sneered at him. “Why do I need your forgiveness? I didn’t do

anything wrong.”

A reporter exclaimed, “Hayes Corp. announced it! Ethan and Joy are married. It’s real!”

Liam stared, stunned. “You bribed someone at Hayes Corp.?

Are you insane?”

I couldn’t believe how dense he was.

The crowd buzzed. “Did she buy the news too?” “Is she

forcing him?” “So desperate to marry.”

The crowd stirred. “Is that Ethan?” “He’s here.” “She’s

finished.”

Liam looked at me disdainfully. “My uncle must be here to punish you for what you did.”

“I told you to apologize earlier, and you refused. Now you’ve stirred up this news in the group. When my uncle disciplines you later, don’t come crying to me.”

Skyler also grinned triumphantly. “Joy, no matter what trick you’re playing, you’re finished this time. Offend the Hayes family’s devil, and you won’t marry Liam ever again.”

Ethan had just stepped forward to speak when Liam cut him

off.

“Uncle, you’re here. I brought her to clarify the rumors, to

apologize.”

Then he turned to me. “Joy, apologize now. My uncle is here- stop putting on a brave face.”

I ignored him. But Ethan spoke slowly, “You brought her here from the hospital? And you tore the marriage license?”

Liam nodded. “I just wanted her to apologize in front of the media. I was worried the fake license would hurt your

reputation, so I tore it.”

Ethan’s face grew colder, his voice icy. “She has nothing to apologize for. I released the news. It has nothing to do with

her.”

Liam’s eyes widened in shock. “Uncle, what do you mean? Why are you helping Joy lie?”

Ethan raised an eyebrow. “I’m not helping her lie?”

Liam was furious. “Not helping her lie? She spread false news saying she married you- this is…”

His words trailed off. He stared at Ethan, dumbfounded.

“Uncle, what do you mean? If you’re not helping her lie… you actually married her?”

Ethan stepped forward and took my hand. “That’s right. We got our marriage license yesterday.”
