He Made A Fool Of Me On April Fools, So I Married Another Man Chapter 03

My eyes widened in panic. “Don’t!”

I watched helplessly as my ID vanished into the sewer. I scrambled forward, reaching for the drain, but Liam yanked me back.

“That’s enough! Look at you—some rich girl crawling on the ground like this. People will think I’m abusing you.”

Slap!

I didn’t hold back. My hand connected with his cheek. “I told you, this isn’t about you. Why stop me?”

“How dare you hit my bro?” Skyler’s eyes blazed, her hand flying toward me. I ducked and slapped her back.

“I’ll hit both of you.”

I’d been sick of her for years, tolerated her for Liam. Now, the pretense was over. Bitterness washed through me.

“Bro,” I scoffed. “I’m disgusted by your relationship.”

“Hiding behind ‘brotherhood’ to enjoy ambiguous feelings,I’ve wanted to hit you for years.”

Skyler’s face flushed. “What are you saying? Don’t insult our friendship.”

“Pure friendship? I spit on that. Do you believe it yourself?”

Rage took over. I shoved her down, pinned her, and slapped her—again and again.

“You pick-me girl. I’m giving you a proper lesson today.”

“Ah!”

A sudden kick to my stomach. I crumpled, elbow scraping concrete.

Liam helped Skyler up, glaring. “Joy, look at you. Obsessed. What man would want this?”

“Skyler and I are completely innocent. And you dare insult our relationship? I’m so disappointed in you.”

Skyler’s cheek swelled. “Bro, I can’t do this. Who knows what she’ll say about me next.”

“Don’t contact me again. Just go be a good husband to Joy.”

Liam grabbed her. “Skyler, we said forever. How could you?”

Then he turned to me. “Joy, this is your fault. Apologize to Skyler, and I’ll let this slide.”

I staggered to my feet, laughing coldly. “Apologize? For what?”

“She stole my bag, threw my ID, ruined everything. Hitting her was nothing. I should’ve called the cops.”

At ‘married,’ Liam’s anger flared. “Still on this? I told you,it was a joke. What do you gain?”

I stared at him, cold. “Liam, I’ll say it one last time—I’m not here to marry you.”

“Stop putting on an act. Who else would you marry besides me?”

He yanked my wrist hard, fixing me with a glare. “Apologize to Skyler now.”

Skyler smirked. “If she apologizes and takes her slaps back, maybe.”

“Otherwise, I can’t let this go and neither can you, bro.”

Liam fixed me with a cold stare. “Apologize, take a few slaps from Skyler, and we’ll call it even.”

I couldn’t believe my ears. “What? You want Skyler to slap me?”

Like it was obvious. “You hit her. She gets to hit back. It’s about pride.”

“And you slandered us. A few slaps is generous. Don’t be greedy.”

I laughed coldly. “I slapped her, and she deserved it,for throwing my ID. Apologize to her? Never. And I won’t let her slap me.”

Liam shook his head. “Guess I spoiled you. You’ve forgotten my rules.”

His eyes turned icy. I shivered.

I remembered. We grew up together. Once, some girls cornered me in an alley. They wanted money. I had none. Their leader slapped me—again and again.

Liam found me, cheek swollen, crying. Fury in his eyes, but his touch was gentle. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll get revenge.”

Minutes later, those girls showed up, bruised and battered. His gaze was dark. “I never hit girls, but you bullied Joy. I don’t care about anything else.”

“Joy, come hit her.”

I shook my head frantically. “I don’t dare.”

In the end, he held my hand and slapped the girl who’d bullied me.

Now, the person he protected wasn’t me.

Liam locked my hands behind my back. “Skyler, go ahead.”

Realizing what was happening, I screamed at Liam. “Let go of me!”

I struggled, but he held tighter. “Want to suffer less? Be obedient.”

Skyler grinned, slowly approaching. She raised her hand to strike, then paused.

“Smacking you like this isn’t satisfying,” she purred. “Apologize while kneeling. That’s how it’s done.”

As she spoke, Liam kicked my leg. I collapsed onto the concrete, pain whitening my face.

“Liam, are you crazy?”

I tried to stand, but he pinned me down, my knees scraping bloody.

Skyler’s hand came down hard, dozens of slaps later, she stopped.

I lay there, battered.

“Joy, this is a lesson. Don’t bully Skyler again. Now, come home with me.”

I coldly refused. “I’m not leaving. I…”

Liam cut me off, furious. “You still want to marry me? I think you’re insane.”

Skyler laughed. “Even with a pig-faced mess, she’d still chase after you, huh?”

Liam sneered. “If she wants to humiliate herself, let her. Let’s go out.”

But when they saw the Los Angeles Tribune headline the next morning, they lost their minds.
